Solids and storing/freezing question

This question is for mommy's that have started solids and make their own baby food:
do you make extra and freeze? How much do you freeze? Couple days worth? One week?
if so, are there certain vege/fruit that freeze better than others?
what storing methods or containers do you use for freezing?
FWIW, we have the baby bullet but I don't think I want to freeze those little containers? I just want to get ideas from you mommy's that have started solids for awhile now and have some sort of system down. TIA!

Re: Solids and storing/freezing question

  • I would definitely recommend the website https://wholesomebabyfood.momtastic.com/
Sorry it's not clicky. There is a wealth of information there regarding making/storing/freezing your own food. I purchased the green sprouts silicon one ounce trays. I pure the food, freeze overnight in that tray..some people use regular ice cube trays as well... And then store in ziplock freezer bags. Hope that helps. I am on bump mobile so sorry if its hard to read!!

  • I just made about a months worth. Apples, Squash, Carrots, Pears and Sweet potatoes. I steamed them then put them in my food processor with some water to make it thin then I put it in ice cube trays. The next morning I put them in freezer bags. It was so simple and easy.

  • Right now we have peas, avocado and sweet potatoes in the freezer.

I make extra, and end up freezing about a ice cube tray worth of a certain veggie at a time.

I steam the veggie, then mash with a fork and freeze in the ice cube tray. Then once frozen, I put each cube in a snack size zip lock baggie with the date that it was first frozen.

  • I put all the cubes in one bag of the same fruit and label what it is and when it's expired.

this is exactly how I do it. Works great and doesn't take up too much space!

As pp said check out wholesomebabyfoods.com, really helped me in the beginning!

I have the Baby Bullet also and do freeze those containers.  I also use other small tupperwares that I have.  I went to buy ice cube trays but the were all sold out.  Tonight I made squash, peas, and bananas.  Last week I made avocado and sweet potato.  I love making her food!
