Emergency room...long

I slid down the stairs last night holding Izzy trying to get the stupid dog through the baby gate as well...it happened so fast.  Iz woke up and I shushed her back to sleep.  My back full of carpet burn I convinced myself the baby inside me was ok and cushioned.  Hours later I used the bathroom and saw blood.  Never am I a bleeder during pregnancy.  I called my sister in Minnesota and two military emergency rooms.  I was told to go to the closest one.  I shouldn't have went to the one I did.  No OB care.  They found a Doppler, did a pelvic exam and urine test. The jelly was literally in a gallon jug.   We found the heartbeat, a little blood in my urine and was sent home saying come back if it's worse.  I really want an ultrasound and a real OB to tell me baby is ok.  Rationally I know lots more would be happening right now, but peace of mind would be great.  This morning I called the closest OB to the base I went to and the nurse said nobody will monitor and they refuse to see anyone under 20 weeks.  She said she was surprised they saw me last night and I should have went there..civilian hospital with some military staff...she said a doctor would call me, but that was 3 1/2 hours ago.

We were in the emergency room from 1230 to 3am.  Poor Iz kept thinking they were going to hurt me.  I called DH at his training and I shouldn't have.  Now he is worried and he needs to focus.

I know everything is going to be ok, I am just still a little freaked out still.

Sorry I wrote a book!

Re: Emergency room...long

  • Awe I am so sorrt that you took a tumble, i know how scary that can be

If it gives you any reassurance. I fell down a flight of stairs, fell off my counteri couldnt reach something and down a hill twice and levi was aok.

I would call them back in a few hours to remind them you are waiting.

Doc just called. He said that hearing the heartbeat was promising. Ultrasound wouldn't add to the picture at this point. It isn't a viable baby right now is what he said. I am to follow up with my OB. He said most times at 16 weeks a fall won't cause a miscarriage. I hate this happened because I am clumsy and the dogs practically push me down the stairs. I know to be more careful with those huge greyhounds. I cannot blame them it was my fault.
Thank you, I do feel a little better, lol.

  • I'm so sorry!  (((hugs))) Good Lord, Military hospitals are not very accomodating, are they?  WTF is wrong with them?

  • I'm sorry your going through this. I'd be shaken up too. I know it's easier said than done, but try not to stress out too much. At this stage your baby is so protected in the uterus that a slip down the stairs is unlikely to hurt anything. Also the cervix is very vascular at this stage so even a strong sneeze, or bowl movement, can be enough to pop a little blood vessel and cause some bleeding. Just try to take it easy, and keep an eye on things. I'm sure all will be well. I'll be thinking if you.
  • Oh, no! I'm sorry this happened.  Try to relax (easier said than done)..I'm sure everything will be okay. I'll send over some good vibes!!

  • Aww! That sucks. I'm sure it's terrifying. I hope you get some piece of mind soon.
  • Thanks ladies. I have rested today. No more blood, so that's good. I hope my doc schedules an ultrasound.
