Regular diapers in a pool?

We are going to be going away between Christmas and New Years to a hotel where there will be a pool. We will probably only take Mikey to the pool once or twice so I really don't want to buy a whole freaking pack of swim diapers if I don't have to. What will happen if I just use a regular diaper? Could there be a poop explosion? Could it fall apart? Has anyone done it successfully?

Any advice you could offer would be great. Thanks.

We used a regular diaper in a pool once. It just got really full and heavy really fast, which made Aria pretty mad.

The swim diapers only catch poop. Could you make a DIY cloth diaper for the occasion? Just something to catch the poop?

Do you know anyone who has left over swim diapers from this summer? My sister ended up saving her kids swim diapers when they out grew them and that's what I used this summer. Maybe you can find someone? Or check craigslist?

There are reusable swim diapers from iplay on amazon. Its like 10. Just buy it. Its unsanitary and rude not to. Or dont swim.

Okay, thanks ladies. I'll just pick up a pack and deal with it. The thought of floating gel or floating poop, for that matter is narly.

P.S. You can get a cloth swim diaper for super cheap. Here is an example:
