Parenting after a Loss

Pack 'n Play vs. Mini Co-sleeper

Hi ladies, I'm debating these two options.  I figure if I go co-sleeper to get a small one but will I regret it if I could use a Pack 'n Play?  Or would I need both?  I'm so lost.. thanks.

Re: Pack 'n Play vs. Mini Co-sleeper

  • The cosleeper is a lot smaller than the PNP, so baby will grow out of it.  We used the mini cosleeper for the 1st month and then he went into his crib.  We use the PNP as a changing station downstairs since there is no bathroom upstairs.  We probably wouldn't use it much otherwise.

I did like being able to reach baby easily from the cosleeper, but you could probably use the PNP for that.

  • PS We switched him to the crib after only a month bc I had a very hard time sleeping with him in our room, but he could have stayed in it longer than that.

  • I have liked my PNP. We have been using it to sleep Harrison in since he came home. We were able to pack it up and take it home to Grandma's house for Thanksgiving.
  • Great info ladies, thank you and congrats!  I still remember when you got your BFPs so I am so excited to be in good company soon.
  • I would say the PNP would be a wiser buy if you were only buying one because you can use it later on when you travel or if you need to put a moving baby somewhere safe for a few minutes (bathroom breaks, etc)
  • We got a mini co-sleeper from my cousin, and actually sent it back with her before the baby was born. ?It was really hard to fold and unfold, it was tiny, and we already have a bassinet for our bedside so for us it was redundant. ?Whereas we did buy a pack-n-play, so that we have a place for the baby downstairs, and even a place for our friends' babies to nap when they're here. ?Seeing our pack-n-play on the high setting, I don't know why it wouldn't be as useful as a co-sleeper as long as you have room for it by your bed.

  • Yeah the cosleeper is a SERIOUS PITA to open and close.  Actually, when we pulled it down we tried for over an hour to collapse one of the sides and never could do it so it remains in our attic half open.....

  • I *love* the PNP.  He sleeps in it beside our bed and the changing station is convenient.  I think you'd get more use out of that because you can use it later as a safe place to play, travel bed, etc.

  • Ditto the other ladies comments about the PNP.  We have two--one in our bedroom for nighttime and one downstairs for naps/diaper changes.  Most used baby item we have.
