my niece is Harper Sue. I think it will age well, but there are sooooo many harpers out there. something to think about if popularity and trendiness bother you. I love the name, though!
trying for #1 since May 2012... we're adopting!bringing home baby boy in january 2015!
Well, our son's name has been #2 on the SSA list for the past 2 years, so we're more focused on finding a name we love, rather than worrying about popularity (somthing to consider though). Trendiness, however, is another story. In my experience, trendy names tend not to age as well, and that is more where my concern lies.
lol every time I hear this name I think of the magazine Harper' s Bazaar. I' m not a huge fan, but that could be d/t the recent popularity of the name.
I think Harper goes well with Mason. They're both last names that have seen big popularity surges in recent years, so they have a similar feeling.
Here is Harper's trend line in Ohio:
Harper:
2011: #41
2010: #103
2009: #185
2008: #284
2007: #489
2006: #851
By contrast, Mason spent 14 years (1995-2009) climbing through the top 100 a little bit at a time before breaking into the top 10 (it was #1 in 2011). So Harper is trending much, much faster than Mason. It may not be top-10 in 2012, but it seems headed that way within the next 3 years.
I love this name! It is my 1 choice right now and I personally do not know a single child named Harper.
Also I've noticed posters in multiple threads not just this one saying things like "in the future people will know when she was born." My name is Meagan. Do people assume I was born in the 80's and what does that change about me or my name?!

Harper is becoming really popular and it's pretty trendy. Mason and Harper go great together though. So if the popularity doesn't bother you, I'd go with it.

Could never understand the attraction to this name...i find it very unflattering.
I also think in 15 years everyone will be able to pinpoint the years that all the harpers were born.
Also I've noticed posters in multiple threads not just this one saying things like "in the future people will know when she was born." My name is Meagan. Do people assume I was born in the 80's and what does that change about me or my name?!
