Sleeping in the bassinet

Hi There, I have an 8 day old little girl. I know she is still adjusting to life outside the womb, however, im trying to get her to sleep in her bassinet. so far, the only sleep we have gotten in co-sleeping (which i am not a huge fan of). Any advise or little tricks that anyone has would be greatly appreciated. She wakes up and cries as soon as she hits the mattress, even if she is swaddled.

Re: Sleeping in the bassinet

  • We use a bassinet.

I have to double swaddle my DS, and I had to double swaddle my DD when she was newborn as well, for either if them to sleep good some nights.

  • Try a sound soother.
  • Be patient and always put her back into the bassinet. Eventually she'll get used to it. I refused to let our LO in our bed. Several times I fell a sleep on the glider with her but I always put her back into the bassinet. She got used to it eventually. My LO suddenly hated being swaddle at 3 days old?! So there was no swaddling for her. As the pp said, try a soother. It worked wonders for our LO.

  • My DD is 9 says old and we are going through the exact same thing.

I have found holding her an extra 1020 min for her to go into a deep sleep before laying her down. I also lay her down feet first with her head last to touch and sometimes hold her head a minute after the rest of the body has laid down.

    Good Luck!
