Baby carrier + winter weather

Hi ladies,

Hope you don't mind me butting in with a question. Curious how you wear your babies during the winter. It wasn't cold enough to wear bundle up today, so I got by with wearing the Ergo under my lighter coat. It did get me thinking about how I will wear it with my heavier coat and manage to keep both baby and myself warm. Sorry if this seems like a silly question.

Thank you in advance!

  • Not silly at all! So far I've borrowed one of my husband's coats, and it zips up around DS' back. Doesn't look beautiful, but it works! I'm sure you'll get plenty of better suggestions than that! Haha

  • I got one of these when they were on babysteals for half price and it is great.  It is warm and water resistant and I just tie it onto the Ergo straps.  That keeps DS warm and toasty, and then I just put my regular coat on unzipped.  He generates enough heat that I am quite comfortable this way!  There may be something similar that is not so pricey.

  • Thank you both! DH's coat it is until I can investigate other more fashionable options. ;)

  • For front carries an oversized coat zipped over you both works well. For back carries and a baby that's going to stay up, I prefer a babywearing coat - Kindercoats and the Ergo coats are easy to find online.
  • I just got the Ergo Winter Papoose coat, and it's awesome.  Super warm, LO loves it, and it can even be worn when you're not using a carrier and looks great.  They're normally pretty expensive (over $200) but Ergo just had a sale and I got mine for $62 (plus free shipping!).  Not sure if the sale is still going on, but it's worth checking out.

Actually this is exactly what I do. Dh is significantly bigger than me so it works great, aside from the coat going almost to my knees lol. At least my legs ae warm too.
