Is this a sleep milestone?

We bedshare and DD (10 months) has always been a snuggler. She still nurses at least 2x per night. Normally, she nurses herself to sleep and stays close to me. Over the last few weeks, she's nurses until drowsy and then squirms away from me. She tosses and turns in the middle of the bed (we have a king) and fusses around until she either falls asleep, or I pull her back to me and nurse her the rest of the way down.

While there are plenty of times I would love to sleep alone, I'm not sure I'm ready for the snuggles to end! Is this a normal step in more sleep independence, or just a phase? She isn't teething or working on any milestones (she's been walking for almost two months) so I don't think anything external is interrupting her sleep. I should add that all her naps are either while being held, or in the Ergo. Sleeping alone isn't really her thing : P

DS does this a lot! He frequently nurses until almost asleep and then rolls over so that he can lay with his arms out straight.

I do think it is kind of like a milestone. The first step toward sleeping independently.

DS has been falling asleep like this on and off for 2 months or so. Some nights he is very snugly and wants to sleep latched, some nights he nurses until almost asleep and then rolls over, and then there are nights when he won't lay down at all, but wants to climb all over mommy and daddy and be tickled. Don't worry! LO will still want to snuggle for a long time!

I'm excited to stumble upon this! My son just started pushing away and sleeping a few inches away from me too! Weeeee!
