never wake sleeping baby??????

DS has been asleep for 4 hrs now. ?he has had a grand total of 14oz of formula since 5:30am (almost 12 hrs ago) b/c he only takes about 3oz at a feeding and then quits on me.

he has had a cold. ?maybe he needs this sleep??? ?do i wake him and try to get him to eat? when do i really worry????

you would think that sleeping baby = happy mommy right? ?i must be crazy!?

I say no. He's gaining weight just fine, and if he has a cold, he needs to sleep. He'll probably wake up hungry... then be ready with a bottle. I know when I don't feel well, I don't eat much either.

I say never wake a sleeping baby. If he is eating well and gaining weight, I'd leave him alone.

I say don't wake him. One time sleeping for more than 4 hours and not eating isn't a problem.

Our doctor told us not to let her go more than 4 hours since her end feeding time during the day. So if she finished at 12pm and napped afterwards, we wake her up at 4pm to feed her. This is rare though as she seems to wake up about 15 minutes before I would wake her anyway.

I followed this when she had a cold aound 6 weeks as well. She kicked the cold in about a week.

I say don't wake him. He needs sleep to fight his cold & just may not feel like eating.

by 4 months you should not have to wake him to eat if he is gaining weight properly. However, you may want to try to wake him and have him eat or give him a warm bath and play for a while if he is up to it or he may be up all night and miserable! I can't let DC nap for more than 3 hrs at a time or he has a very difficult nite. GL! Hope he feels better
