Pampers Swaddlers....what do you think?

I have heard horrific stories from mommies that used Pampers Swaddlers brand diapers. From bad diper rashes to skin was so inflamed and bleeding from the diapers. Now I am not sure if it just happen to be the mothers diper changing issues and maybe a because they are new moms just didnt realize when and how often to change baby.

 What are your thoughts?

Re: Pampers Swaddlers....what do you think?

  • I used them with no problem for probably 3 or 4 months with DS. I switched to Baby Dry because he was sleeping longer at night, and they're more absorbant.

  • I have heard good and bad about almost every diaper brand so DH and I decided we would try them all decide then which we would like best. I did not care for the Papers at all! I prefer Huggies pure & natural diapers and wipes. He never had any raw skin, bleeding, or diaper rash with the Pampers I just noticed that they tended to leak much more than the Huggies, also they were always leaving little fuzz and residue all over him which I didn't like.

  • I love them. My friend's little girl can only use pampers Swaddlers because she is allergic to everything else. I honestly think it just depends on the baby. Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

  • They're the only diapers we've used so far and I love them, no complaints at all.

Some babies have allergies or sensitivities though so problems might not necessarily be the mom's negligence.

  • Our hospital had these. When we got home we bought Huggies because they were on sale. Never again.. They're not horrible but we had a few leaks and the Pampers just fit her so much better. We switched back almost immediately. She's only 3 weeks old but I've never had any issues and I've never known anyone else who has. The diapers themselves aren't the cause of diaper rash or other problems!!

  • I love Pampers Swaddlers. That's what we used for DS1 (at least in the beginning) and are using for DS2. I don't like Huggies. I was given a pack and used them (I didn't want to waste diapers) but really didn't care for them; I didn't like how they fit my LO.

WIth DS1 we eventually switched to Luvs, and I liked those as well. They worked and were less expensive. We'll probably end up doing the same with DS2.

  • I hated them so much! He peed through every thing in them.

I thought it was me and how I was putting them on because I read alot of good things about them but after trying both Huggies and Luvs, I knew it wasn't me .. it was the diapers. No diaper rash, just lots of changing and washing clothes.

  • We loved the Pampers Swaddlers in the newborn size. He never had any leaks or skin problems. We hated the Huggies newborn diapers because of leakage problems. However, since he switched to the size 1 Swaddlers, he has had a lot of problems with leakage. The fit just wasn't as good. We have had good luck with a generic Safeway brand of diaper called Mom to Mom. Those things can handle mega poops.

They are the only diapers we used for all three kids. After Swaddlers, we moved to Cruisers and Target Upamp;Ups.nbsp;Never had any reactions. Not even with DryMax loved them. These were the only diapers that worked well for us and kept everything in. It really depends on the kid. Both DS1 and DD had reactions to Huggies. DS2 leaked through Huggies.
    This exactly!

  • I love them! No issues here
  • My first two kiddos had issues with them. The lining is different than Baby Dry and the absorbent crystals would touch their skin (I know this because I would occasionally find them on their skin) and cause what I believe is a chemical burn- nothing that was awful, but red and irritated. I switched them to Baby Drys and had no issues.

DD#2 is still using Swaddlers (with no reactions and I have yet to find any crystals that got on her skin) simply because Baby Dry doesn't come in a Newborn size. Once this pack is done, we're switching her to the Baby Drys.

  • I had been given 4 different brands as baby shower gifts and not wanting to waste them, I used them.  Not a single one of the main brands stood up the way the Swaddlers did.  So, I just ordered the size 2's from Amazon in bulk!

  • I was using swaddlers with DS1 when they introduced dry max in 2010.   The non dry max were fine but the dry max ones immediately gave him a horrible chemical-looking diaper rash.   The rash just as immediately went away when we switched him to seventh generation.   DS2 on the other hand tolerated the swaddlers just fine (it's what our hospital offered)  We prefer the fit of Huggies for him though, so we switched to those.

  • I love them! Our son hasn't had any problems with them at all, but he's only 7 wks. We used Luvs (received a pack at our baby shower) and I didn't like them. They were not very absorbent and we had a couple of blow outs with them.

  • I would never let those toxic poop-bags touch my son. Use an environmentally and baby-sound brand, or use cloth.

Well, you are obviously a better parent than the rest of us.  That's what you wanted to hear, right?

  • It depends on he baby.  I (as an infant) broke out from pampers, but my LO is just fine.  I love the Ph strip (I think they're only on the sensitive) that helps me know that she is wet.  The dry max is so absorbent there are times I can't tell if she is wet.

We did have to change from the newborn size to the size 1.  We noticed that the newborn were too small around her thighs and hips that she was getting a rash from the rub. Since we moved to the bigger size, we haven't had a problem.

  • No, I just feel strongly that people should really try to get away from using disposable diapers (among other things). They are really not a great choice from so many points of view. But hey, if that's what works for you, then that's what you do. I was just stating what I though (because that's what the poster asked). If you're feeling judged that's your problem.

  • What I am noticing now is that at times, the cut around my little ones thigh seems tight but that may just be me (my LO was born a preemie so he is still pretty tiny and within the weight limits of the newborn diapers).

I had one Huggies Little Snugglers (i think that is the name of it) and it wasnt bad at all. I MAY purchase some of those to try and see if it can really hold! I also had one of the Huggies pure and natural... THE BLOWOUT FROM THAT ONE WAS SO MESSY! Wont be getting that one again.

well ok. Here's your gold star. Obviously we all hate the environment and our children. ::rolling eyes::

Anyway, OP, we haven't had any issues with Swaddlers. It's the brand that fits her best, and they are crazy absorbent. DD STTN, and we have never had a blow out in Pampers. Huggies on the other hand... Ugh. LOL No rash issues, they just don't fit her right.

  • I used them and had no problems at all. I only switched when DD got bigger to the baby dry ones.

Every baby is different, and different diapers fit differently, so you may have to try a couple types. I think that pampers fit babies with bigger tummies and huggies fit babies with bigger legs. It may be the opposite though.

  • That's the brand our hospital uses.
  • HATE the baby powder smell.  Ordered a box on amazon, but sent it back bc of the smell.
  • I really think it depends on the kid. I'm a ftm with a lot of baby experience years as a nanny and years as a babysitter plus I ran an infant room for four years. Nothing prepped me for the first nine Weeks of my little girls life of diaper rash. The only thing that fixed it was switching to non chlorine diapers and home made wipes. I had stocked up on pampers and Huggies all different kinds...I tried all of them...lo and behold nothing except seventh generation or whole food brands would keep the rash at bay. She just sizes out of ones today...I'm trying huggies size two as its what I have....ill give it there days and Hope we have no rash...otherwise back to the store I go.

So...op I think it depends on your baby :

  • cloth diapers are disgusting. the poster asked about your opinion on pampers swaddlers, not an opinion on anything else. i know a few moms like you in my hometown who 'would never put on a disposable' or 'never bottle feed' and let me just say, your kind is annoying. shush, hippie.
  • We've tried a bunch of different brands but Pampers work the best for my son. We did the swaddlers and now he is in cruisers. We've never had any issues with diaper rash.
