I really would like to get the two ladies who watch my little girl a gift card  somewhere. We are on a tight budget, so I can't go crazy. Would a $5 gift card to Sonic sound cheap if you were the reciever?

    To be blunt: yes.

    I think if you're on a budget, but you really want to show your appreciation, I'd do a nice, handwritten note/card and make them a batch of cookies or cupcakes. That shouldn't cost a ton but they'll recognize the work that went into it.

    Instead of $5 on a gift card that won't buy much at Sonic (if they even like Sonic), I agree with pps, that baking some cookies is always a nice gesture. If you are not a baker, I'm sure you can find a nice box of chocolates or candy in the $5 range.

    Yes, but if you are on pinterest you can find a lot of fun stuff you can make for them whith stuff that is already around your house. I am giving my sitter some homemade bath products. Bath fizzies and a sugar hand scrub...I will also be making some turtles to give her as well.

    Just a thought.

    I stay at home now with my dd but I was a teacher for five years and I can honestly say that the best gifts I got from students were handmade gifts. I felt that the students really thought of me when they made it and it wasn't just mommy and daddy getting me a gift card or buying fancy soaps/body sprays and gifts. I agree with people to look on Pinterest and google ideas for them. I have kept every gift/ card a student has made me, they are that special to me. I also always appreciated even the smallest amounts of gift cards to coffee places like Tim Hortons and Dunkin Donuts because as a teacher you can always use coffee!!! All in all I would say that I have always been appreciative of any and all gifts. Just knowing that parents thought of me during the holiday season and thanked me for the work I did with their child meant a lot to me no matter what the cost/ gift was. It's the thought that counts .

    I agee with bringing in cupcakes, muffins or some baked good with a card. If you still want to do a $5 gift card I would do Starbucks rather than Sonic.

    Your son is a beautiful little boy! And I love that picture...we are doing pics tonight and I want to do something similar with lights in the background. We will see how our skills are with the new camera :)

    Sorry but yes that would sound cheap even though it's suppose to be the thought that counts.  I think the lowest should be $10 if that.  If you have to do the $5 (which wouldn't cover a value meal) at least add something else to it like home baked goodies.
