My work group is moving from its current office location to a larger complex. The upside is that I'll be moving from a cube to a shared office. The downside is that I'll no longer have our awesome lactation room. There is a room at the new complex but it is in another building, about a 10 minute walk from my office.
I have met the woman I will share an office with only once. The office will have two desks, separated by a wall that goes up to the ceiling. I'd really like to just pump in the office. She wouldn't be able to see, but she would be able to hear it. How do I ask her if this is ok? Should I wait a few weeks to get to know her or should I just ask right away? I'm not sure what the appropriate etiquette is and I don't want to cause her to be uncomfortable. If she says she's uncomfortable with it, that is totally ok and I can suck it up and walk to the lactation room. It might help me shed some of this lingering weight
Re: Pumping at work question
I would just talk to her now about it. Honestly, she won't see you so it shouldn't be a bid deal.
ETA: I would just let her know that you are pumping...I wouldn't ask. If your company is ok with it then you shouldn't need her permission. If it really bothers her, she can buy a radio.
