May 2013 Moms

18 Weeks and feeling puny :(

Are any of you early May mommies getting a (mild) 2nd round of m/s? I'm not even sure thats what I'm getting, but yesterday I had to take a late lunch (about 20 minutes late) and I got a sudden sick feeling and had to run to the bathroom to throw up. Now today I just feel ick. I don't normally eat breakfast which I know is a big no-no, but its 10am and I'm feeling like I'm going to get sick again.

Its just like the m/s in that it happens when I don't eat in time. I don't really feel sick any other time except around meal times. Anyone else?

  • I'm with you. Except that I had no m/s at all during 1st tri.  I started getting sick around 15 weeks if I let myself get hungry. I have to eat as soon as I get up in the morning or I end up nauseous and gagging for a good thirty minutes. I keep lots of snacks and candies (for the nausea) on me at all times. I feel like a grandma! :)

  • I know for me if I don't eat every few hours I get a very pukey feeling.  Usually if I grab some saltine crackers to hold me over I am fine.    I went way way too long without eating one day and was terribly sick for about an hour.... lesson learned on my part.   I eat 3 normalish meals then 3 snacks.. usually maybe a few crackers or a cup of fresh frozen mixed fruit.
I also keep crackers in my car just in case.

I am not a big breakfast person either but I do make myself eat a piece of toast and chocolate milk every morning.

  • I only start to feel sick when I either eat to much or when I overdo it with DD.

But m/s can hit at any point in your pregnancy. I would just make sure you have lots of snacks and drink plenty of water.

  • Yeah mine has never gone away.  :(  It's definitely lessened though.

  • I'm definitely feeling sick, too. It went away at around 13 weeks, and now it's kind of back (I'm almost 17 weeks). I mostly get sick when I'm hungry or when I wait too long to eat. And the "waiting too long" can even be like 5 minutes late. One minute I'm not hungry at all, then I get crazy hungry all of a sudden and if I don't eat something within a few minutes, I get sick, and then eating just makes me even more sick. There are also some foods and drinks that bother me, that didn't bother me in the first trimester. For example, I can't drink orange juice anymore even though I used to love it in the first trimester. Now if I drink a glass, I immediately have to run to the bathroom and puke. It really sucks, but you're not alone! Just hang in there and hopefully we'll all feel better soon!

  • I'm with you - also 18 weeks (19 on Sunday) and I've been feeling SO much better the past few weeks. I never (knock on wood) threw up during the first tri, but I was definitely nauseous, and had daily stomach aches and heartburn. They went away around week 13. Over the past few days I've been feeling really ick again - nauseous, heartburn, etc. Hoping it doesn't last very long.

  • I've had this happen a few times recently. I don't know if it's because of baby or because the weather is crazy here....80's for a high one day and 20's for a low the next. That will make any one sick. :)

  • Yes... it's weird, because I didn't have much m/s until recently. Now it's not so much m/s but I do get sick if I don't eat or if I overeat. I have to suddenly be very careful with my portions.

Maybe I shouldn't have ordered a pizza (for just myself) for lunch today...

  • I thought my m/s was going away, but I was wrong. I've had it bad since week 7 and Zofran has helped since week 9. Yesterday I took it and was still throwing up and nauseas all day. I felt like it was first tri all over again. Week 16 started out great, but it's taking a turn for the worse.
  • I started morning sickness at week 5 when I found out, and still get sick almost every day at week 17. Although Yesterday and today I have not thrown up, but I have felt nauseaus. I don't want to get my hopes up just yet that the sickness if over. It's wierd that I feel nauseous, but then I feel starving all the time, even after I eat. I am trying to eat more often, but less amounts of food each time.

  • OMG, yes!! My m/s went away around 14 weeks, and now all of a sudden this week it's back. I have thrown up every morning this week.

  • Mine never went away. The difference between 1st tri and 2nd tri morning sickness for me is that in 1st tri I was sick whether I ate or didn't eat. In 2nd tri its when I don't eat (when my stomach gets too empty) that I get sick so I've been focusing on constantly shoving food in my face.

    Hope you feel better soon!

  • Yes, but not as bad as the first round... I still have way more energy now, but I did notice that meals are harder once again... I was eating everything and nothing sounds good now. Also my nausea has been replaced with bad morning headaches! Fun stuff!!!
  • I'm sorry you ladies that sickness never left! I hope it goes away for good soon. I can't complain in the least because I feel great these days. It just seemed weird that I was sitting at my desk and all of a sudden I just ran to the bathroom. Completely out of the blue. I didn't feel bad before or even right after. It was just so random. But today I'm feeling just kind of Yuck! Nothing really worth complaining about.

  • Oh, yes, at 16w I'm still sick on and off.  I highly recommend, however, if you can manage the needles (which I know a lot of women really can't) to get acupuncture.  While I was getting acupuncture, I felt great.  Just a week after stopping, nausea came back.  I am starting back in acupuncture on Monday.  "They" say that it has over a 95% effective rate and it sure works for me.
