Last night I woke up at 4am after sleeping on my left side and my left ear was asleep/ completely numb and I lost hearing in that ear too. It took 20 min before I started to get feeling again and my hearing back. Has this happened to anyone else? Is this something I should call the doctor about?

Re: Ear falls asleep and loss of hearing
Yup, that is the problem I have in general with side sleeping ,(causes my ears to plug up) and one of the big reasons why I am looking forward to being able to be on back or tummy again. Basically we are sleeping on our sides more and probably at odd angles to help prevent indigestion and compressing our ears. For months I have been using a dolphin stuffed animal (has a bit of a curve to it) when I sleep. Can position it so my ear does not get as smashed and yet my jaw is supported so it isn't hanging open or at odd angles. Is not perfect, and a little creepy when it wanders after getting up and going back to bed... will poke a person where stuffed animals do NOT belong... otherwise helps me from getting plugged up and smashed ears and is a lot easier to reposition than a pillow. Only a little longer to go
