Rory Alexander is here! birth story (long)

On Tuesday morning I went into L n D for my scheduled induction at 8 am. I was 4 cm dialated 50 % effaced and -2, they started pitocin at 10 and everything went well for several hours. I was breathing thru the contractions fairly well until about 3 when they started iv pain meds, I did two rounds of the iv meds when they broke my water. The contractions that came after that were extremely strong and at 5:30 I asked for an epidural.

I got my epidural at 6 and then everything went downhill, first my blood pressure dropped, and then little Rory's heart beat began to dip, they mentioned the posibility of a c-section at around 6:30 if his heartbeat didn't get any better, and unforturnatly it got worse. At 6:45 they we're running me down to the OR for an emergency c-section giving me alot of my anasthesia in the hallway thru my epidural.

The only good thing was that I had an epidural in place because if I hadn't I would have been put under general and husband couldn't be with us. At 7:08 Rory came into this world weighing 6 lbs 8 oz and measuring 19 1/2 inches long. I was in the OR for over an hour because my uterus began to rupture and they had to stop the bleeding, and then at 2:30 I bled thru my bedding and am now on iron suplements to help with the loss of blood.

All in all this was definatly not the birth experience I could have ever imagined but I'm really happy. My son's amazing and perfect and absolutly adorable and he is safe so in the end it was totally worth it.
