TMI discharge? mucus plug?

Tmi. But I just went to the bathroom my underwear was thick sticky mucus about this size of a nickel, it was pink brown clear. Yet when I wiped I was fine. I'm 28 weeks 4 days... should I worry? Has this happened to anyone elsee?

    I am a FTM...so not sure I know what I'm talking about...but I would call your OB. I hope it's nothing, but may as well check.

    Snot like it could be your mucus plug.  But at the same time it does come back.  If you have any questions you can always call your Dr.  Thats what they are there for.

    Totally normal.  Your mucus plug can regenerate, so even if you lose tiny pieces of it, it's not a big deal.

    Ok, since I know there are other Doctor Who fans on this board: Ladies, please tell me I'm not the only one whose first thought upon reading this phrase was "Just like the Doctor!!"

    I actually just had this conversation with my midwife.  She said that the mucus plug cannot actually regenerate (contrary to popular beliefe), I am not sure whether that is true or not, but since she is my midwife I trust her, haha!  Anyways, she said women can walk around for weeks without their mucus plug, and it is not actually a sign that labor is looming nearby.  So whether it regenerates or not, I think you are safe, but I would still let your Dr. know, it never hurts to keep them informed and that is what they are there for!

    My husband is a huge Doctor Who fan, so I'm going to be sure to bring this up to him tonight.  I'm sure he'll appreciate it Stick out tongue

    Interesting.  Every book I've ever read about pregnancy has talked about the regeneration and that it doesn't just regenerate when you lose it, but that it is constantly regenerating.  Just like your nose is constantly creating mucus, your cervix does too.

    Thanks all. I might call just call to see what they say. I have an appointment next week too. I'll mention it then see what they say about the whole mucus plug regeneration situation.
