February 2012 Moms

Back to CIO!

After 2 days off (Hayley didn't feel well Monday and last night - well, I'm saving that for FFFC!) we are back to CIO. And tonight I had to do it without DH (he was at bowling). 10 min of torture - but still glad it was only 10 min and not longer!

I just hope this eventually stops. Even the few min of crying makes me feel terrible.

Re: Back to CIO!

  • It will stop eventually, when she realizes that she can do it all on her own without fuss.  10 minutes is awesome after a 2-day break ... stay strong!!

  • I don't, and have never done, CIO per se...but 10 minutes, that's good.  I usually put Ian to be awake, because he fights me and will not let me rock him most of the time.  Fussing or crying for 10 minutes is really good!!!

  • Good for you for sticking with it! I do feel like I need to add a disclaimer: Aria still has nights where she makes noise before bed. It's not always crying, some nights it's just "talking", but it's still there for a few minutes.

Sometimes I see these posts about how people have done CIO and their babies now just roll over and go to sleep when they put them down... that is awesome, but I wanted you to know that it might not be exactly what your baby does. Smile

I would second lancyjo.....Ethan has been going down awake for about 4 months now.  I couldn't tell you the last time we had to go back in for a "check", but even just last night, he was fighting it and was babbling in there for a good 20-30 minutes before he finally fell asleep.  It's definitely talking/whining though - not crying.  The crying will stop eventually - stay strong momma!!  I know it's not for everyone, but it was a god send for me and for him!
