I just need to vent - I apologize. DD has never been a great sleeper. She goes to sleep around 7 pm (i've tried pushing this back.. does NOT work!).... Up somewhere between 11:30 - 12:30 (closer to 11:30) this week, somewhere between 2 and 3 and then if I'm lucky, she's up for the day around 6. Sometimes she's up at 5:15 and I just can't get her back to sleep.
I CANNOT get her to burp, so it seems like once every 3 nights she gets a gas bubble and cries. Last night she partied from 2 - 4 and is going on 45 minutes now. Last night I had to let her CIO for about 5 minutes before she finally gave in and went to sleep.
She is working on her entire top row of teeth, and I know that's not helping... but I get SO mad when I think about how little sleep I get and how little sleep I've gotten since I was pregnant.
DH has the flu, but even on a good night he either doesn't hear her or when it's his turn he gets so impatient he gives up in 5 minutes and it's my issue to deal with anyway.
I know I should just be grateful to spend the time with LO... but I hate nighttime.
She's apparently boycotting sleep at daycare too. Instead of the 3 hours of naps she took (one short, one long), she's dropped it to 1.5 hours.... And that's all the sleep she is getting between 6 am and 7 pm.
/end rant. sorry ![]()
Re: I hate nighttime.
It's rough when teeth are coming in, do you give her any motrin to take the edge off? When DD was not teething, we started CIO up to 15-20 mins depending on the cry and it worksed most nights. She was also up 1-2 times a night drinking full bottles. For a few nights I only gave her 2oz bottles to wean her off, and then started the CIO and now she sleeps through the night 90% of the time. If she doesn't go back to sleep after 15-20 mins or the crying gets louder and louder, I give her a 4oz bottle and back to sleep she goes.
Also, instead of giving her a bottle before bed, I started giving her cereal mixed with yogurt (about 3 tbsp of cereal and 2oz of yogurt), and that fills her more then her bottle. If she finishes that, she gets a little more cereal and I keep feeding her until she's full. This way if she wakes up at night, I KNOW she's had enough to eat and I don't feel bad about letting her cry a little.
I know every baby is different, but just wanted to share what seems to be working for us. Hope you get some sleep soon!
