Cant take being pregnant anymore!

I am 38 weeks on Saturday and I feel like I can't do this anymore. I am so uncomfortable all the time. I can not sleep anymore at all. My lower back always hurts and I have what seems like menstrual cramping all day. My last doctor visit I was checked was 36 weeks and there was no cervix open, no dialating, nothing. The baby hasnt even dropped. My next appointment is a week from today. I am so nervous that I am not going to go into labor naturally. I am a first time Mom. I just want my baby here. I cant even take being pregnant anymore. I talked to my doctor about it but he said he is going to wait 5 days after my due date before inducing me. Should I start thinking about natural ways at home? If so when to start? Is anyone else feeling like this?

  • I was also impatient like you the first time around. I tried every possible "natural induction" technique at home starting a couple of days before my EDD. None worked. I was induced at 41 weeks. You can try what you like but babies will come when they want. Sorry to disappoint

  • we're all there I think.  I had my 38 week appointment yesterday and I had no-very little effacement  and no dilation.   I havent even been having regular contractions..  Only ones when i work to hard that go away when I rest.   And I've been trying to walk a lot and have sex a lot. Neither of those seem to be doing much..  As PP's said, baby will come when babys ready.  I think that if a baby comes with one of the "natural" inductions it's just a coincidence.  Sorry!  But we're almost there!  You can do it!

  • Wow I'm so sorry to hear this! I can't believe they are going to make you wait so long. My DR is inducing me at 39 weeks. She says that there is no point in baby being in there any longer.

  • [raising hand] ... Count me in your club! At 38 weeks, 4 days I am so done being pregnant....so much of my body hurts, it sucks any joy out of feeling baby move. Most days I cry....a lot .....family is very understanding but it really feels like my doctor could care less
  • I'm getting close to this point too, but I've actually made it to 40 weeks (today YAY!).  I am pretty sore, but I've found that staying busy (I am working full time until I go into labor) really helps take my mind off the pain and the waiting.  I am hoping she makes an appearance soon, but I'm willing to give her time to come when she is ready.  I'd really prefer not to induce if I don't have to, and my dr. agrees.

  • If it's any consolation, I was horribly uncomfortable at 38 weeks, but I feel great these days!  :)  GL!

  • I feel the same way! The past two weeks have just been dragging on and on and it's driving me crazy! I thought I'd be overjoyed on Wednesday when I hit 37 weeks but I'm just more antsy to have this all be over and to have my little boy in my arms.

  • Thank you everyone!!! Knowing that there are many people in the same situation doesnt make it all better, but it helps a lot! Smile
