No BH?

I am 36 weeks and 2 days, and don't think I have had any BH contractions yet... if I have I haven't noticed them.

Anyone else not having them?

I don't want to complain, because I don't have any pain.. but I feel like I should have felt something by now.

I am worried that my uterus isn't getting ready for birth LOL, that is probably silly.. but you all know how us pregnant women can be sometimes.

Re: No BH?

  • I'm almost 38 weeks and have yet to feel a BH. My doctor said some women never get them and to not worry about it.

  • I was due Dec 5, and I never had any contractions that I realized prior to my water breaking. Then at 11:30pm on Nov 29, my water broke. The contractions started a few hours later, and my baby boy was born at 5:30am on November 30 at 39w2d. He and I are both really healthy and doing great. Everyone is different I thought for sure I'd go past my due date since I didn't have any signs, but then it all happened pretty quickly. Good luck!
  • I'm at 37wks, and I've had what I THINK was bh maybe twice.  I was crampy, but I can' t remember if there was any tightening, so I don't know if it was bh.  But not to have them isn't anything to worry about from what I've heard.
  • They won't be painful when you do have them... chances are you have had them and just haven't felt them. I'd be surprised if that wasn't the case, anyway. With my first, my midwife was the one who told me I was having one. I said... "oh." I could see it, after she pointed it out, but I really couldn't feel it.

This time around, it's different. I feel them very clearly. I either know what I'm looking for, or my body's not messing around this time. :)

  • I think I had a few at 37-38 weeks and then they just stopped and I haven't felt anything since!

  • I never felt anything with my first until the day before I had him.  Don't worry!

This time, I've had them for longer than I can even remember...

  • I haven't had any...at least not the way everyone describes them. I've had a few menstrual like cramps here and there, but that's it. I was paranoid about it too, but I was told some women just don't until its time. It's kinda scary since I have NO idea of what to expect, so hopefully I won't freak out when I do!!

  • I had very few with DS1, and only very late in the game (around 34 weeks+).I think this is pretty typical for FTMs. When I did go into labor though, things progressed very quickly. Even if it may feel like nothing is happening, they could just be subtle and you could still be making progress. You don't need to worry, your body will figure out what to do!

  • Well, I was surprised what BH felt like to me. There is no pain. You just feel your uterus tighten. At first it just felt like it was made of stone, just really heavy.

But for me anyway, they're not painful. I guess the pain doesn't come in until the contractions are coupled with kiddo starting to move down.
