Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Separation Anxiety...

My son is about 9 1/2 months old, and he's a huge mama's boy. Even if I'm in the same house, just across the room where he can still see me, he cries and reaches out to me to be near me. Don't get me wrong, I love that he loves me so much, but it makes it hard for my husband to watch him while I'm gone. Lately while I'm in class, my son screams and fusses the entire time and my husband is always frustrated. My question is, what helps with separation anxiety? Will it fade with time, or will me being gone more help him get used to being away from me?

  • Hi :0
I actuallly just posted about this on another post too...

Ok so this is a habit you want to start working on now if you can...try to not pick him up when he is whining, because it will reinforce that behavior, instead try to redirect your LO with toys or something else...it's important they start learning to be more indipendant and  I know it's hard, mine is clingy too and I want to continually pick mine up but it's good they break that habit.
I hope this helps.... btw when you leave sneak out if you arn't already doing that...don't make a big production when you leave, your LO might not even notice you are gone if he/she is busy playing w/ a toy when you sneak out.  HTH's :)
