Solid food

My son is just over 7 months and has been eating solids since he was 5 1/2 months. Just started a third meal but think it might be too much. How much solids do you feed your baby and when?
Thanks

Re: Solid food

this is almost exactly what I do.

with breakfast she gets 1 to two oz of fruit and one oz of oatmeal

lunch is 1 to 2 oz of veggie and 1 oz of rice

dinner is 1 to 2 oz of veggie, 1 oz rice and sometimes 1oz fruit

morning snack: few baby-spoonfuls of plain greek yogurt

    afternoon snack: usually puffs

  • How did you know your baby was ready for puffs? This is my first kid and I'm unsure of what to give him and when he has two teeth on the bottom

Honestly I just put them on the tray and waited to see what happened!  It says on the puff package (which I read later) that the indications they are ready for puffs are: IF they are crawling or if they are picking things up with their fingers or sitting independently.  My DD is picking things up with her fingers, but she is not doing the other two.  My DD also has two teeth and she likes to crunch on the puff, however there has been 2 times now that she gagged and choked on them a little but was able to work them out easily (also they dissolve really easy).

they are not neccessary but they are fun.  I got the sweet potato ones thinking they would be healthier than the fruit ones, but when I read the label I saw that they had added sugar and they contain wheat flour which is important to know if you are watching gluten introduction etc...

I am very jealous of this schedule. Matt is STILL waking up once at night, but the time varies. So his wake up time then varies. So his first nap time varies. *Sigh* I hate it.

We just started puffs too... we started them a few days ago and she is doing great with them. She is crawling on hands and knees, pulling up to stading and uses 3 fingers to pick them up. I tried last month when she turned 7 months and she gagged on them and I knew she wasn't ready.  Now she is doing great with them and I even send some to day care with her. I think I might try some cherrios soaked in a little BM too.
