Daycare provider holiday gift

We have a really small home daycare with only Dylan and two other kids and a lesbian couple runs it.  I was thinking of getting them a $50 gift card to a cute restaurant in the area and each a $25 itunes card.

Is that to little or to much?  Any ideas of what you would give?

  • Personally I think that's too much. I would only get the gift card to the restaurant. I wonder what the other ladies will say... I hope I'm not the cheapskate here!

I also think a gift card to a restaurant is enough.

I think it's enough, but if you're willing and able to do more, then why not? Also, if you're rather close to them or really love the care they provide for your son. If it's just a daycare to you - then the restaurant gift card is probably enough. But especially since they are a small center, they will probably really appreciate what you had in mind!

  • Maybe I'm a cheap person, but that sounds like a lot!  Yes, I understand that they take care of your son and you appreciate that.  However, they are doing their "job".  Though I'm sure they would appreciate $75 worth of gifts, I'd bet they'd appreciate $25 or so just the same.

  • In the past I would just give an additional weeks salary as their christmas bonus.  I  had DS1 (before preschool) and currently have DS2 in a small in home daycare.  THis year I am getting my sitter a nice collection from Tastefully Simple as she loves the products and cooks a lot!

  • DS goes to an in home place that only has 1 caregiver.  We love her.  She doesnt go out much, so gift cards are kind of out.  And she's not great with technology, so I cant really give her any kind of online gift certificate either.  I'm giving her a basket with a bunch of nail polishes and other manicure stuff, because her nails always look nice.  She is tough to buy for, though!  I'll probably end up spending about $30-40 for everything.
