Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Rocking on hands and knees to crawling

I know every baby is different, but just curious how long it took for your LO to go from rocking on his hands and knees to crawling (if that was the progression of things for your LO). Wondering if I have to figure something out for the X-mas tree of it will be into the new year before he is actually getting anywhere. Thanks :)

  • It took DD around a month I think from rocking to crawling.

  • Couple of weeks, I think. For awhile, the feet would go, but not the arms and DD looked like she was doing Downward Dog
  • DD's been at it about a month or so now... no crawling yet

  • Thank you for the replies, looks like we probably won't have to baby-proof the tree :)

  • Hmm ... DD seems to be the odd one out. She started army crawling (very capable of getting around very quickly) about 6 weeks ago. She's only started rocking on her hands and knees for the last couple weeks. Maybe keep tree baby-proofing methods in the back of your mind just in case.

  • About a month - and I will say that not all kiddos get into the Christmas tree.  Our little guy is fascinated by it and touches the branches, but seems to not like the texture, so beyond touching the branches, doesn't pay it much attention.
  • I'd say 3 weeks...

This is pretty much my ds.  He is very good at army crawling for about 3-4 weeks and started rocking for a couple days.
