Parenting after a Loss

What temperature...

Would you use as a cut off for going for walks? It's been really warm out lately and the boys (and I) totally dig walks. It's gonna start cooling off today, so at what temperature would you not take them out for like a 30 min walk?

Re: What temperature...

  • If they are dressed properly they'll be fine! We went for a 45 minute walk in minus 22F and DS was completely fine. Just remember babies live super far north and they are fine!

  • I think any temp is ok as long as they are dressed warmly.  Daytime walks in the sunshine really helped get LO on a day/night schedule.

This!  As long as they are dressed appropriately, they are fine.  I've taken DS out in all temps, and haven't had an issue.. granted, we haven't hit anywhere near minus 22F (pipedpiper -- do you live in the North Pole?? LOL) but he's always been fine!  The other night we went to a Christmas parade -- I wore him and he had a hat on.. only part of his cheeks and then mouth, eyes and nose were exposed.. I just kept an eye on his cheeks to make sure they didn't look like they were chapping up, and he was just fine.

    Enjoy your walk!

  • It doesn't really get cold enough here for me to have a cut off. A blanket in addition to the pants/long sleeves/jacket is usually enough when it's really cold. But, it get's hot here, so usually when it's 100+ we play inside.

  • If DD was bundled up well, I'm not sure there would be a cut off unless the weather was foul. Or I suppose it would be if I didn't feel comfortable going out, we wouldn't. But I could see us going for walks in the thirties and forties for sure.

LOL! It is considered northern Canada. But its freezing!!

  • I don't go out when it's less than 30.  Only because I don't like it.  DS loves the wind in his face and being outside no matter what the temp is.
