I am so excited, yet nervous, about my appointment tomorrow. My Doc has said that since i'm 38 weeks he'll be checking me to see if I've dilated at all because i haven't been able to confirm or deny any contractions. I've heard its a rather uncomfortable process and I've nick-named my Doc "Dr. Sausage Fingers" so I'm not looking forward to the actual exam but can't wait to find out what's going on in there.
Part of me is hoping nothing (I need until Monday at noon to finish up work projects and the weekend to finish LO's laundry) but part of me is laughing at the thought of being told that those cramps, aches, tightening, etc. have been contractions that I just didn't recognize and I'm already dilated enough to head to the hospital.
So ready and not ready to be holding my LO in my arms.
Still Team Green!
Re: 1st Dilation check tomorrow!
I'm laughing at your description. I had a previous doctor once tell me that it was a good thing that she had short fingers before doing an internal... I'm not really sure it was because hers were also a bit rounder.
GL though. Mine is Tuesday, and I'm also hoping for some news.

LOL @ "Dr. Sausage Fingers"
That is too funny! Good luck
This. Seriously. I completely agree. If you think internals are painful, just wait till labor!

Good luck! I have my first one tomorrow too; they weren't too bad last time but I have a different doc, so we'll see.
Just remember, it doesn't necessarily mean labour is coming soon. I was 2cm at 37 weeks last time, 3 at 38....and didn't have her till 40 wks, 1 day. Not trying to be negative, but I had my hopes up at my 38 week appointment and still waited 2 more weeks.
My first check is this Friday and I'm pretty excited as well! I know that it doesn't really mean anything, but I can always hope
I had a few of what I thought were "real contractions" the other night, so who knows?
I've had a check previously when I was in the hospital for what turned out to be low blood sugar, and it was so uncomfortable! Hopefully this one won't be as bad. Kind of made me feel like a cow...haha.
This. I have a posterior cervix and it hurts getting checked, they are digging around in there and I bleed every single time. Not fun, but still worth it to know if there has been progress!
