Toddlers: 24 Months+

what time does your 2yr old go to bed/fall asleep

The twins are in bed by 8pm every night. They were originally in their rooms by 7:30 but DD wouldn't fall asleep until 9ish. DS usually fell asleep around 8:30. So we decided to up it a few months ago.

They both usually fall asleep now around 9 or 9:15. I feel this is too late. I get them up at 6:30 every morning (except weekends). They usually take naps from 1-3.

Just wondering what the general time is for a 2yr old. They just turned 2 last month but this has been going on for a few months now.

Thanks!

  • DD goes to bed around 7:30/8:00 and gets up at 6:00/6:30. She naps for about 2 hours per day from approx. 1-3 but that does vary some depending on the day.

  • On a typical night DS goes to bed around 9:30 but he doesn't get up until 7:30 or after because I work afternoons.

  • DD goes to bed between 7:30/8 pm.  She naps from 11:30/12-1:30/2pm.  I would try an earlier nap time.  It worked well for us getting an earlier bedtime.

  • My DS will be 2 at the end of this month.  He is in his crib around 8pm every night, give or take 15 minutes.

Usually he falls asleep within 1/2 hour....but sometimes he's out in 5 minutes, and other nights, like last night, it took him over an hour!

There's no rhyme or reason to it, really.  He wakes consistently around 7am each day, and naps from about 1:30-4pm.

  • I try to put DD2 down by 9.  Generally she is asleep by 9:30.  She wakes up at 7:30ish to nurse and about 75% of the time will go back to sleep until 9ish.  She naps for about 2.5 hours every day but her nap times don't reflect when she goes to bed.  For whatever reason, whether she wakes up from nap at 3 or 6, she'll still go to bed at 9.

  • DS is 2, he goes to bed between 6:45 and 7:15 and wakes up between 7 and 8. He also naps 12 hours in the afternoon. He's a super sleeper though, and always has been.
DD is 3, goes to bed at 7:30 to 8 and then wakes up between 6:45 and 7:30. She didn't nap for a good 46 months, but is now back to an hour nap every afternoon.

  • I generally tuck DD1 in at 8:30pm then take DD2 to her room. We rock for a few minutes then I lay her on her crib and sit next to her until she falls asleep. That's usually around 9pm. If she doesn't nap, then she falls asleep right away when I'm rocking her.

Wow! I've never had a child that sleeps that much. Both girls sleep/slept 10 hours at night with a 2 hour nap as toddlers.

This is almost exactly DS's routine.

This is us, exactly.  Which is sort of weird.

  • DD1 is 2 y 8 mo, and she goes to sleep about 7-7:30, and sleeps until about 7 during the week and 8 on the weekends. She doesn't nap on the weekends, and rarely during the week at school, much to the chagrin of the ladies at the daycare.

    TOTALLY us.  Exactly in fact!

  • DS is usually asleep by 6:30-6:45 and up at 6 am during the week (due to my early work schedule).  He naps for 2 hours right after lunch.  On weekends, he'll usually sleep until around 7am.

  • We go upstairs to read books at 7:30 and then he's usually asleep by 8:00. He used to have a later bedtime but we found that he was having trouble going to sleep because it was too late so we bumped it up and he is much happier. He gets up at 6:45 each day with the exception of weekends.

  • OMG to all of you! I am so jealous.

My son goes to sleep between 7:30 and 8 and is usually up between 4:30 and 5am EVERY MORNING. I am trying to put him down a little after 8 but it's not making much of a difference.
