DS won't eat much at all today

I picked him up from daycare and he only ate some applesauce, a bit of cheerios and a bit of pretzels all day. He refused to eat any dinner and was pretty fussy all evening. I put a bit of baby orajel on his gums and he quit fussing so I am thinking he may be teething. His gums appear a bit thick (possibly swollen). Any ideas or do you concur that he is probably teething? We didn't really seem to have these issues with his other teeth so it is not 100% obvious to me.

Re: DS won't eat much at all today

  • DS has days like that. Some days he eats like a champ, others I can't even get him to take a bite of his favorite meal. It could certainly be teething. DS has been especially picky with eating the past few days. He just had a tooth break through today, and has another just under the surface. If he seems really uncomfortable I give him a dose of motrin about a half an hour before dinner. He will usually eat better then.

  • Ok that sounds good and glad to know you both think it may be teething.  I gave him ibuprofen a short time ago and he did eat some applesauce. I will have to start giving it to him a bit before he eats breakfast and dinner and hopefully he will eat a better. Thanks!

  • ALastair puts himself on all liquid diets when teething is really bad. If he refuses mum mums and puffs I know there is a tooth coming. I just make sure he drinks enough.

  • I always notice that B stops eating when his gums are bothering him from teething! So I would definitely concur! I usually give if a food pouch on days like that so he gets something! Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't! Hope your LO feels better soon! Poor guy!
