Making your own peas??

Anyone do this? I want to try peas and wondered:
Can you buy frozen peas, puree them and then put them in trays and freeze them? My intention is not to thaw them, I would puree them frozen and then put them in trays into my freezer. Not sure if that is a no no?

You cant do what you're suggesting. You need to cook the frozen peas, puree and then you are able to freeze them again.

ditto pp. I would think they would thaw when you tried to puree them anyways

I warm them up just until they're thawed and soft and then puree them. They turn out great.

This is what DH did -- cooked frozen peas, pureed and then frooze again.

Just watch out with the frozen peas you buy... I've been having the hardest time finding ones with no salt added. I don't think Birdseye adds any salt but I can't find them in my stores. I finally found some that had "trace of salt" so I went with them.

You need to thaw the peas, steam them, then puree and then freeze in trays. I do it this way all the time.
