My friend is due a week after me, also with her third. We are taking our respective kiddos to the mall tomorrow morning to get our annual photos w/Santa. In passing she mentioned that if her LO comes before Christmas, she'll be back w/the kids & the new baby. I guess the look of horror on my face took her by surprise. I asked if she was serious, and she was, but then thought it through and basically conceded that taking a newborn (under 2 wks old) to the mall during cold & flu season was kind of crazy. We're in the greater Philly area so it's not like we're in warmer weather.

So, basically WWYD or What are you planning to do? Santa or not w/your newborn?

I agree. In fact, we have never taken our kids until they could remember it -- around age 2 -- for that very reason. It just seems like a germ fest! I would never ever take a 2 week old!

No Santa photos for us. I'm due the 19th so there's no guarantee he will even be here by Christmas day but even if he was, no way.

Definitely not taking the baby to see Santa this year for OP's exact reasons: cold and flu season is not good for a 2 week old.

No, we are not doing this. However, I am going to try to convince my dad to wear the hat and beard for Christmas so we can get a "Santa" pic.

How cute! I like this idea, I might have to try to get my dad to dress as Santa.
