We're living with my in-laws right now and DS has just started crawling and cruising on the furniture. My in-laws have refused any suggestions I've made so far (Like nixxing the Christmas tree with the GLASS ornaments in the living room). But as he's becoming more mobile I am really getting worried for his safety and sick of spending my whole day moving him back to the 'safe zone'. If I have to see those baby tears one more time because he hit his head on their coffee table or pinched his finger on the magazine rack, I'm gonna scream.
But it's not my house. And they're doing us a HUGE favor by letting us live here while we find a place. So I don't feel right getting confrontational about it.
Help Mamas!
Re: Babyproofing When It's Not MY House?
For the tree, ask if you can buy soft ornaments for the bottom. Tell them you're afraid your DS will break their nice glass ones.
as for the coffee table and such, we don't baby proof those things. Kids get bumps and bruises so I'm not padding everything.
How is the floor plan? Could you invest in some walk thru baby gates? That way you could restrict where he can go.

You can also get add-on pieces. You can keep DS in it or keep it around the Christmas tree.
i agree with this!
