Epic Fail

So, my plan to do the bulk of my driving from NorCal to SoCal at night while Ronin was asleep turned out to be a total flop.  What I didn't consider was a rear facing child and trucks pulling up behind you with their headlights on and said headlights waking Ronin up EVERY. SINGLE. TIME!  It was miserable.  I was planning on driving 5.5 hours last night, but I had to stop after 4.  Ronin kept waking up and screaming.  I don't even know what city I'm in right now...

    Oh, no!  I'm sorry it was so rough on you both.  I'm guessing a cling shade or something would block your view too much to be safe to use on the back window. . .

    Was the rest of the plan also to drive at night or was it during his daytime naps?  Hopefully driving during naps works out and you can get the rest of the way with minimal issues!  So exciting that you're going to see your DH so soon!  Just focus on that.

    I have a window shade, but I'm not sure how well it would work on the back window.  I seriously considered draping a big blanket over his carseat and the seat of the car that the carseat was on-kinda like putting him in a fort, but I decided that would be too much effort.  I'm doing the rest of the drive today; he is usually good in the car when awake and sleeps for drives more than 30 min.  He could use a longer nap today b/c he didn't sleep well last night anyway, so I'm cautiously optimistic for the rest of the drive.  Getting showered and back on the road-there are a few stores around my hotel, though, so maybe a little shopping first.....
