holy bh batman!!

I have had the strongest bh this morning so far!! Like my stomach is a rock!! Also, I'm kinda annoyed at my ob...because she's making me second guess everything I'm feeling. Like yesterday and today I have had gushes of clear watery fluid...no smell not urine. Enough to fill a panty liner about every hour or so. She said yesterday at my appointment that if my water breaks it will be a gush and I will be soaked. Now, I've read so much that baby's head can block the gush from happening. My child has a very healthy head according to yesterday's growth scan....the friggin thing was the size of a large grapefruit on the screen!!! His face is all smooshed in there too because he's a chub. Praying I go into labor and waiting for these contrax to hurt before I call anyone about anything...so far...no hurt just really really tight bh. Why is this so darn difficult to decifer?!?

  • Because you want it so badly. If you really think you're leaking fluid, you have every right to call and have them check. If you don't want to do that, then go walking or bounce on a ball to see if you can get the BH to pick up.

  • This seems weird. My OB told me that water breaking can happen one of two ways, it can be a big gush that keeps gushing or it can be a slower trickle and to do the panty liner test. He said the water bag can tear and not full on break which would cause the continuous trickle. He did however say that if I think there is any chance I am leaking to come in and they can take a swab to check to see if it my water or just pee. He also mentioned that due to the risk of infection if my water does tear or break (regardless of my contractions) they will want to deliver within 24 hours.

This - go get checked - it can lead to infection if you don't deliver and it is your amniotic sac that has torn.

  • OK, now I'm side-eyeing your OB. It is NOT always a gush and she should know that.... which is why mine only "pierced" with DD, I was damp, and the water was determined to have broken. How? My midwife had me lay down for two hours and cough, collected a sample and analyzed it under microscope. Amniotic fluid was there. Therefore, a day later when contractions weren't in the firm enough pattern, they put me on pitocin as per that hospital's policy to reduce the risk of infection.

Before I was started on pit, my midwife artificially ruptured the bag. (It was still intact even though it had pierced.) I pushed down to create a water balloon effect, and she snagged it, and there was then a huge gush.
