Really, DH? NBR Rant

So last night I thought DH was the greatest ever when he gave me a massage with candles and lovely music after DD went to bed. Well, tonight he asks me to go through probably ten strands of Christmas lights that don't turn on anymore and pull out all of the bulbs when I'm just "sitting there" with DD.

I can't even believe he just said that. Any of it. Is my time so invaluable that when DD doesn't need me - or I'm not cleaning, cooking, doing the laundry, or doing my work from home - I should be removing bulbs from a billionty yards of Christmas lights that don't work anymore?

Needless to say, I told him if he's so keen on it, he can do it.

    Oh boy, men and the things they say! Sorry he said that to you. Very insensitive. Though I have to say the massage and candles sound really awesome. I can't remember when my DH did that last. Maybe your DH was frustrated at the lights and let it out on you. I've done it plenty!

    I'm sorry he said that. Men don't think before they speak!!! Lol I must agree tho, a massage and candles sound amazing! Can't tell you the last time DH did something like that for me!!

    I think he likes to say things to rile me up. I am not going to be ungrateful for the massage even if he does! Now I kind of feel like a jerk... I type before I think.

    Aww, DH does the opposite and tries his best not to get me riled up because he knows how I can get lol and your def not a jerk!! I would have prob turned it into more!

    I don't know all your DHs, but mine just doesn't get it. We really work 24 hours a day as mothers. Even if we don't get paid. I just went back to work, and all I want to do is snuggle and nurse G when I get home. So while I'm doing laundry with G in one arm, DH asks if I want him to hold her. Um, no! I want you to do the laundry! They're just thoughtless sometimes...

    Btw, I'm totally jealous of the candles and stuff!

    ETA. My DH is on his paternity leave right now, so he has plenty of laundry time ;]

    You aren't a jerk! This board is a great place to vent, and if it made you feel better then that's great! Men say the craziest things......

    You are not a jerk.  Yes it was super sweet of your DH to give you a massage with candles and music, but you have every right to be upset over what he said to you.  We spend so much time with our lo's and as much as we enjoy the time with them, it is a lot of work and it is hard when your own partner fails to acknowledge the work you put in day in and day out.
