have you suffered health-wise from an mspi diet while BFing?

I've been dairy/soy/beef/peanut free now for 5 months. lately i haven't been feeling great, very weak, tingling in my hands, just 'off'.  Just had bloodwork done and my doc said i'm low on iron and vitamin D so i'm going to start taking supplements.  She said vitamin D is best from diary which i am obviously not eating right now.  As far as iron, i've been eating lots of leafy greens, lentils, adding molasses to my oatmeal...so far it hasn't been enough. In general I consider myself a healthy eater--lots of veggies, avocado, eggs. But still lacking...

Anyone else bumped into issues with your own health while trying to cater to baby's? Any tips?

Re: have you suffered health-wise from an mspi diet while BFing?

  • I've been off dairy and soy (and tree nut, peanut, fish, shellfish) just under 2 months and I've already lost 10 pounds.  I was very thin to begin with.  I wouldn't be surprised if I'm anemic.  I take a calcium + Vitamin D pill almost every day but the full dose is 2 pills so I should probably start taking 2.  I'm depressed because the diet is not even working.  Found blood in his poo just a couple days ago.  I simply cannot eliminate any more from my diet (would have to cut egg and wheat to round out the top 8 and that is just not going to happen).  Good luck.  I'm not the healthiest eater right now.  Lots of carbs.  In spite of everything I seem to have an amazing amount of energy, though.  No clue where it's coming from.... unless it's the carbs!
