Ok. My second is due May 19th. At that point my DD will be almost 21 months old. I need advice on strollers. What double stroller do you have? What do you love and hate about it? There are two strollers I'm looking at...one is a side by side and the other is a tandem of sorts (city mini select with the second seat attachment). Any advice would be greatly appreciated! TIA!

We have the City Mini Double. It's a side by side. I love it! No complaints and my 28 month old is still very comfortable in it.
I do plan to get a sit and stand for them in the spring. My DD will be 2.5 then and my DS 1.5. I think they will benefit from that.
I have both the city select and city mini double. I love that you can use the select as a single or double. The one negative is that with both kids in it it gets a little difficult to drive. It's not bad though it's just such a change from it as a single. as a single it drives like a dream. I haven't had a chance to use the mini yet. I just bought it on sale for 299. I hope it's a good deal! And I also hope we can get it put together soon!

We own both the city select and city mini and I love each for different reasons
The city select is great for everyday....especially if you have a toddler and baby. It was great to drop the carseat into (chicco), could be a single/double/we got the glider board for DD to use for quick errands as a single. I love the seat configurations (so do the kids which often request to see each other), I love that one kid isn't sitting on the floor like the phil & teds or Britax, and the basket is HUGE and fits a large diaper bag + more! With two toddlers it is a little cramped and I regretted taking it to Disneyland, you can't do a diaper change in this stroller (problem at Disney) and my DS will lean forward and pull DD hair or kick her seat.
The city mini (we got the GT) is amazing. The kids are more comfortable, turns on a dime, fits through a standard doorway (but not an inch to spare), both kids can nap comfortably, easy folding, my kids won't outgrow this stroller anytime soon, and our GT came with parent console. What I hate- the basket is worthless. All I can fit is a few sweaters or a sippy cup really. I bought a skiphop double diaper bag which fits across the bars and that works best for me but I never can get anything from the basket. Our GT is heavier which is okay but a pain when lifting into a SUV. The sunshade is huge and great but even when my DD is sitting up (seat fully upright) and the sunshade is back she calls it "the cave" and if you have hot hot summers this can be a problem. It does have lots of ventilation but we went to the zoo on a hot day and we actually left because it was much hotter in the stroller and it was like a heat trap.
I'm not sure what you mean by seat is in the back rather than the front. The city select has 2 identical seats that you can put in many combo ie both facing you, both facing out, one in one out, facing each other etc. the thing that I liked better about the city select is that the seat closest to the parent is higher than the one infront. So both kids can see. Not being able to see from the rear seat is a problem in a few doubles and I think b ready is one of them. You are correct about turning. When used as a single I'd handles incredible. But as a double it's a bit clumsy.
this and my sister has the Phil &ted and not only can the other kid see nothing but the back of the chair, but her DS's feet were in the basket making it unless (and I NEED the basket). Lastly when we were in an amusement park he started to cry because a small rock flew up and hit him in the face (he is sitting very low to the ground). I love the stadium seating of the city select.
This is why we did the city select, I am 5ft 7in and when I walked with the B ready I kept kicking the back bottom seat. I guess I have a long stride, but it was awkward for me to try to take smaller steps, so we crossed that one off the list. As for turning, if you put the seat that is farthest from you facing you, the City Select is easier to push, although I don't find it that hard to push as a double.
Mine are 16 months apart.
Early on, I had a Baby Jogger City Select. It was great for my needs. My husband was deployed for most of my son's first year so I needed a high quality, convenient, and easy stroller for almost every errand. I wanted a tandem because I wanted it to fit in narrow areas and not be a "big mac truck" and limit my locations. I liked how convenient it was in most areas.
For outdoor activities I bought a BOB Duallie. We are an active family and I found quickly that while the BJCS was great for malls and the zoo (or any area that is "stroller friendly"), it struggled on terrain, high curbs, etc. I am also a runner and wanted the ability to jog with my kiddos.
For grocery shopping early on I would just wear DS (in an Ergo) and put DD in the cart. For trips where I didn't need much I would use the BJCS and just put the groceries in the basket (which is HUGE).
Now, with a 3 and 2 year old, I have sold my BJCS and have kept the BOB Duallie. It has gotten to the point where neither of my kids really enjoy the stroller and so the Baby Jogger was collecting dust. I use the BOB for running, going to the beach, etc. Rarely do I ever use a stroller indoors anymore.
THere really isn't a perfect double. You just have to think about your everyday life and the stores areas you are going. Do you like to go into stores with narrow areas and aisles? Do you live in an old neighborhood where the curbs arent' graded? Or do you spend all of your time in big box stores where the wideness of an aisle isn't an issue? Do you run? Do you want the ability to take a stroller "off road" on a trail or beach?

You wont be disappointed! I test drove the city select also, because I originally wanted an inline, but it didnt even end up in the running because it was so hard for me to steer and DH kept kicking that dumb back bar. So we bought the B ready, and I thought I was set, but once i acually had 2u2 I found that it was not functional for me at all. I wanted to love it because it is a really cool stroller, but the 2nd seat was so annoying to bend down and wrestle a kid into, and I nearly threw my back out each time I had to lift it intomy suv. I was not about to start taking off seats and whatnot just so I could lift it! So i sold that, went with the b agile double and never looked back. It truly is a dream to fold.
