T was no better when I went to pick her up, and she was still no better by the time she went to bed at 8:00 tonight. We went to the doctor at 3:15, and we were there until 5:00. She saw the doctor (not her doctor, but the other pedi in the practice), then went downstairs to the X-ray place (which took over an hour), then back up to the doctor. X-rays were normal, so that's good news, but the doctor still didn't really tell me what was wrong. Could be a virus affecting her joints (I seriously doubt this, since she's otherwise completely fine), could be a strain or pull, we're not really sure. I dislike this pedi, by the way. She said to give her ibuprofen for the next couple of days and if she's not getting better in 2 days or so to come back and we'll go from there. She's really not putting any weight on her left leg, and it clearly hurts her to try. It seems to hurt her if you push on her hip or move it around to much, so we're all pretty sure the problem is most likely there, but she can crawl just fine. I feel so bad. She keeps going to try and stand up using that leg and then just plopping back down whining. Poor thing. When she's sitting, she's completely fine, though. And when she went to bed, she went right to sleep (I'm sure missing her afternoon nap helped that situation), but at least it doesn't hurt so much it's keeping her awake. I guess we'll see what the next couple of days bring. Thanks for the advice and making me feel a little better earlier!
ETA - This morning, still no improvement.
But I'm now convinced it's her ankle or foot, not her hip. She can crawl just fine, quick as ever, and she was pushing her push toy around on her knees this morning, and dancing up on her knees. It CAN'T be her hip if she's able to do that, right? They did not xray her ankle or foot yesterday. She was legit laughing and dancing while pushing her dinosaur around her room on her knees this morning. Then she tried to stand up and plopped back down whining again. When I tried to hold her hands and get her to walk, I could feel her hand shaking with the effort, and she cried when she tried to put weight on that leg. If there's still no improvement by tomorrow morning, we'll go back to the doctor and ask about a pedi orthopedist.
Re: F/u limping and crying - ANOTHER UPDATE
The imagery of T not being able to put weight on her leg and whining is so sad; I am so sorry for the both of you. Hm? Does the Ibprofen seem to help her? It really bothers me when doctors use medicine as a band aid instead of getting to the etiology of the problem...even though the Xrays were normal something is obviously wrong. Does massaging the area help her at all?
I missed chiming in earlier today, but I am sorry you ladies are going through this! I bet it is AWFUL seeing your baby in pain or not knowing what is truly going on.
Big hugs to you and T.
I can see a virus. I remember being a kid and suddenly not being able to walk. Like my hips gave out. My mom took me to the doctor with no other symptoms and it was a virus.
Sorry T is in pain. That's the worst. When you would do anything to make it better and can't.

One of my son's friends had Lyme disease a few years ago and whined that it hurt to walk and insisted on being carried. Her parents initially thought she'd bruised her leg while falling or something, if I remember correctly. Ended up in the ER and hospitalized for several days...Any chance it could be lyme disease? I don't remember how they test for it or any particulars. The little girl was 3 at the time, so could verbalize a good deal more about the problem.
