Jumper/bumbo seat???

When did you know your baby was ready for these? I noticed some of you mention them already. Mine were born 7/20 but were 4 weeks early although in the 99 percentile a for length and weight.

Re: Jumper/bumbo seat???

  • DD has been using both for quite while. We have to tuck a blanket in the jumper, but she loves the Bumbo and Johnny Jump-up. I say give it a try. If they aren't happy in them, try again in few days until they do work out. :)

guess I'm worried about their necks still???

  • My LO will sit and chill in his Bumbo until his head gets too heavy. He has pretty good head and neck control for about 8 minutes then he starts slumping over. I only use it when i need to do something like empty the dishwasher or something.

  • Lo is good in the jolly jumper forever!! Longest that I have allowed so far is 45 minutes in a row.  She has been using her bumbo for over a month now.

Edit to answer your question, she was ready when she had great head control.  I started out with 5 minutes and increased daily

  • Lo only like's his bumbo if he's elevated, if it's on the ground he has nothing to do with it. I know I know it sounds awful, but I never leave his side. If im putting on make up or something like that i'll have him sit in front of the mirror and he makes faces at himself it's hilarious.

He loves the jumper and has been in in since about 3 months, although we had to prop him with blankets until about a month ago. Now he's a jumping fool. Just try them out in it and see how they do, eventually they are going to like it if they dont already.

  • Oh. I didn't know if DD was ready for either her Bumbo or the jumper, I just stuck her in there and tried to make sure she didn't faceplant. Is that not how you do it?
  • Emery has been in both for about 2 months. But she has had great head control for a long time.

Same here! No faceplants so far and she loves her bumbo and exercauser.

Mine totally faceplanted the first time she was put in the jumper. She only did that once though. Now it reaches her stomach, she has grown so much.

    That's how I'm doing it.

DD can't faceplant easily when she's sitting straight in the Bumbo.  So she likes to pull one leg into the seat with her and twist to one side so that she can faceplant over the edge to drool on the floor.

  • I noticed Lo was ready for the bumbo when she no longer wanted to lay down and was trying to sit up all the time.  She loves hers!
