Really Kate??? NBR - Edit

I'm sorry, but seriously Kate needed to be admitted into the hospital for 2days for morning sickness.  Plus I heard that they are saying because of this, it may warrant her to spend most of her pregnancy in the hospital.

Please tell me I'm not the only one that finds this extremely ridiculous.

EDIT- OK I can conceed and admit, now that it's been made clear that she has an illness that makes her ms much worse, that i wrong about her hospitalization, but the media surrounding her pregnancy is crazy.  She's having a baby, not that next Messiah.

Re: Really Kate??? NBR - Edit

  • She was admitted for a legit medical condition, that required her to receive fluids.

I wouldn't want to have that.

  • It also means she's more likely to have twins. Total crap! Extremely rare form of ms my butt I know tons of women who were sicker than sick their whole pregnancies. I'm tired of seeing all the posts about Kate!!
  • Don't have anymore information than you provided so maybe I'm missing something, but I guess I have to ask why this is ridiculous?  I mean who the heck wants to be in the hospital?!

It's ridiculous because the media is acting like she's the only woman to be hospitalized for morning sickness.

From a media standpoint I'm with you.  But that's not how I read OP.

  • She was admitted for having Hyperemesis Gravidarium...women with this condition do get admitted. She is part of the Royal family so we will definitely continue to hear about her situation and progress.

  • I find it ridiculous because they are acting like her pregnancy is the pregnancy to end all pregnancy.  Women have ms all the time, some for the entire pregnancy and they've survived without being admitted into the hospital.  I had a friend who barely held down water and she lived without being admitted, and she had a single birth.

I understand your point about media coverage.  But dehydration at any time, but particularly during pregnancy is serious and can warrant a trip to the hospital.  They are probably being extra cautious with her because, well, who wants to be on the wrong side of that call but still, it can be serious.

  • From what I know about this condition, it is common to be admitted to the hospital to avoid causing severe harm to the baby and mother due to dehydration and other related factors.  Can't say I find any fault in her presumably following her doctor's advice and doing what's best for her and her baby's health.

I find it ridiculous that you're being so ridiculous. She's married to a prince, of course it's going to be on the news. Calm your tits.

  • Obviously the media makes a big deal of it. The baby is heir to the throne. However if any celebrity had this we would hear about it. I don't think anyone is saying she is specially being treated bc of her fame but that she happens to have something that needs immediate monitoring. You just hear about it more bc she is famous as we would with any other a list celeb.

  • Women used to die from Hyperemesis Gravidarium. It's not morning sickness, it's way worse and debilitating. You can dehydrate and lose your baby. It's not just a sick stomach and a little puking.

  • My Mom had Hyperemesis Gravidarium when she was pregnant with me.  She was admitted several times to the hospital for fluids.  She was actually so sick all 9 months that she weighed less right before she gave birth than before she got pregnant so it can be really serious.  With that said, I'm sure they are being way overly cautious with her and I did think the amount of time she was going to be admitted seemed like a long time but she is royalty so I'm not surprised.

  • No, I don't think it's ridiculous. HG is extremely serious as I have been hospitalized all throughout this pregnancy for it and on modified bed rest. I've lost nearly 30 pounds and haven't put on any additional weight. I've been on several different medications to try to assist in keeping me out of the hospital. My usual hospital stay ranges from 24-48 hours so I am assuming they want to be very cautious with her because it can feel very scary.

  • All I have to say, is the press needs to let her be pregnant in peace.

  • I find great comfort in seeing you have updated your response.

Having a friend currently in the hospital for weeks, after unsuccessfully attempting to stay at her home w/HG. Home health aides & nurses coming day in and day out to change her dressings, and ultimately her IVs for both nourishment and a anti-nausea medicine. Collapsed veins, blown lines, and such, has been all in the cards, as she attempts to make it to viability for her little guy.

It isn't morning sickness, and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

Haha! Love this : BTW, my sis had hyperemesis with all 3 of her pregnancies and was hospitalized 7 times for a period of 3 to 4 days between the 3 of her pregnancies. Not fun, but definitely something that really happens. I wish the best for the royal couple and I look forward to each and every bit of info on their little bambino!
  • She's a royal. People have been waiting for this announcement since they got married... Heir to the throne and all that. HG is a serious condition that requires hospitalization, it is not simply morning sickness. If you can't handle hearing about Kate's pregnancy, perhaps you should stop following the news.

  • At 7 weeks I was diagnosed with hyperemesis and had to get IV fluids, emergency U/S and a few lots of bloodwork. Not fun. Thankfully I responded well to treatment and didn't have to be admitted, just one day in ER. I was on 2 medications (6 pills a day) til 32 weeks, and still had trouble eating (mostly lived on trisuits) and was waking in the middle of the night to vomit. And I had a MILD case! Some women have to have tube feedings and IV meds. Definitely a legit medical condition, and yes, she will be fully covered by all media for her pregnancy, just like the wedding plans were.
