Pregnant after 35

Update: A/S today

and it took forever! I was laying on the table for a little over an hour, little man kept flipping around, covering his head with his hands, crossing his legs, yoga poses, you name it and the u/s tech kept sighing very loudly. After about 45 minutes another women came walking in the room, which totally freaked out DH and I (this happened during our NT scan too) because you can't help but think that somethings wrong when they do that, apparently she was just trying to speed things up because she knew how to find the good shots quickly..

They said everything looks normal, no need to go back for any follow up, and my cervix is even longer than it was at my last appt! I did find myself being a bit of a mama bear when they were pushing down in diff spots to get LO to move, I kind of felt like don't push my baby around. DH and I are definately starting to feel like things are going to be ok this time!

  • Good!!! You must be relieved. I know exactly what you mean, when someone else walks in the room.  I have to go in 4 weeks, for another u/s because of the bright spot in the heart they saw last week.

  • YAY!  So glad the scan went well and everything looks good.

I can totally relate to feeling belly-protective, they really press down hard sometimes...I was feeling the same way at my scan AND also had the experience of some random person walking in and the doctor walking out to talk with them.  I was totally freaking out but apparently they were just shooting the ***.

  • Congratulations! Just wondering, did you have orange juice or something with a lot of sugar in it before your appointment? My office actually told me not to eat anything super sugary before I came in (OJ, jelly, things like that) because it would make the baby jump around a lot and make it harder to get the important views of the heart and organs. I had a very boring breakfast that day and we got it all done in 20-25 minutes because he was being very cooperative.

Thanks everyone, we're pretty content tonite! I had 1/2 a sandwich about an hour before I went, I asked the u/s tech about it and she said they don't mind if they're active because they can get all the diff views, but i think this was maybe just a little much.. I'm not surprised, I've been telling DH, I can feel the little bugger moving pretty much all the time unless I'm asleep, now he believes me!

A longer u/s is no biggie, though--it must have been so incredibly reassuring to see him dancing and jumping around! You know you've got a real live wire in there!!
