What time is bedtime? (clicky poll)

I have been told that DS has a late bedtime but it works for us. We are planning on putting him to bed earlier as he gets older and naps get shorter. Right now he can nap as long as he wishes to at daycare but his one nap per day is generally in the 1.5 hr range.  I was curious as to what is a normal bedtime for your LOs now that they are older?[Poll]

  • It's usually 7:30-8:30, but she can go to bed as early at 6:45 sometimes or as late as 9:00.

  • I voted 730 to 830 but it's really more like 7 to 930. E has basketball until 730 on Wednesdays and other times we're just out. She sleeps until anywhere between 7 and 9 and takes either two short morning afternoon naps or one long midday depending on what else we're doing. Our schedule dictates sleep times vs the other way around.

  • Preston is a creature of habit and no matter what his naps are like, he is in bed by 7pm.  If he has a later afternoon nap, we can stretch it until 7:30ish, but he will not last any later than that.

  • If L only takes one nap during the day, she is almost always in bed before/at 7pm. If she takes 2 naps, it could be as late as 830-9pm.

(Her naps suck, btw... I'm lucky if I can get 40-50 minutes from her)

  • I made a big mistake this last weekend and had a heck of a time getting DS down at bedtime. I decided to sleep in (big time) on both Saturday and Sunday so when DS woke up DH put him in bed with me and we slept until 10-10:30. He also got late naps. Both of those nights it was a battle to get him to go to sleep and it took us about 30-40 minutes to get him to go down. We won't be doing that again!

Ha! You will too. You'll do it the very next time you think you have a chance to sleep in on the weekend. And so will I  :)

I will make DH get up and stay up with him while I sleep! Heehee

  • We have a late bedtime 10-11pm is the norm but we want her to sleep until 9am in the morning.  We can get the other kids ready for school while she sleeps, plue I'm usually at work until 9-10 am so this is easier for DH.  The big kids bed time 8:30pm.

  • I voted 7:30-8:30, but that would be about average.  Tonight he just went to bed (7pm), which is about normal when we are home.  A few nights a week when both DH and I work late, he won't get to bed until 8:30-9.

  • Alastair goes to bed around 7, plus minus twenty minutes. He is a bear when tired so he'll let you know it's time as well. If he is not in pjs by 7:15, there is hell to pay!

  • She goes to bed between 7 and 7:30.  It was 8-8:30, but when the time changed, I put her to bed at the same time.  It worked out, because she dropped her second nap around the same time anyway.  She wakes up around 8:30, and naps for about two hours, starting sometime between 11 and 2.
  • Both of mine go down between 7:30-8. It is a little later than I'd prefer, but if I want to get in a workout it has to be at 6:30 so it is what it is.

  • DD goes to bed between 7 and 730 most nights... tonight she wasn't in bed until 830 because we were out meeting Santa and looking at lights.

She gets up at about 615am, just in time for me to say goodbye on my way out the door for work  :(

  • Bedtime is 7pm pretty much regardless of anything else. Family dinners are at 5 so that we don't miss bedtime.

  • DD is usually in bed between 7:15 and 7:30. She stayed up a little later last night because she took an later nap at daycare. I usually have to wake her up in the mornings too. She is down to 1, 1-1.5 hour nap a day.
  • DS used to go to bed at 7:30, but he's been taking later and longer naps during the day for the past few months. Now he goes down closer to 9. I'm actually glad, because DH just started working in manhattan today. That means a long commute, and he won't be home until 8 pm most nights. At least with DS going to sleep later they will get to see each other for a short while each night.
  • We have a late bedtime too. We get her ready for bed bath, pjs, milk at 8/8:30 but go into the room around 10. She falls asleep around 10:30/11. We've tried earlier bedtimes but she would also wake up an hour and a half later and then be up until midnight. Why fight the system. Think we'll try again when she's a bit older.

  • Bedtime is 8pm for both kids. My DH doesn't get home until 6:30, then it's dinner, bath, playtime. We can't do much earlier than that. It is rarely any earlier or later tan that. My kids must be creatures of habit.
