I have gone ahead and scheduled my induction with my Dr for next week- 12/13, so a few days after my due date. I do hope that the baby comes on her own before then, but we'll see. I know that induction is a hot topic on this board, so I was hoping that some ladies may be willing to share their experience- positive or negative- so I have an idea of what to expect. How long does the process take? Do you have to stay in the hospital from the time the induction begins (mine is scheduled at 6am) until the baby is born? Pain? Complications? Anything is helpful.
TIA!

I had to have an overnight induction because my cervix was not 'favorable' (I had no progress stall). So, try and follow this time line:
8:00pm go to hospital, get checked in and settled, doc inserted cervadil. 6:00 am remove cervadil, I took a shower. 7am IV started and pitocin drip started. 8am doc broke my water. By 10:00 cx were 2 minutes apart. 12:30 I got some pain meds(Stadol?) 2:00pm epidural placed, 4:00 pm another dose of meds in epi. 5:15 I was at 10cm and started to push. Epi wore off by 6:30 and DS was born atb6:46pm
so, not including the cervadil treatment I was just under 12 hours from start of pitI in to birth, including 1.5 hours of pushing.
I'm being induced tomorrow (this time with out the cervadil) so we'll see how it goes this time- good luck to you!
I was induced with LO1 at 42 weeks. I went in at 10 am and started pit. Slow contractions, not much dilation, upped the meds about every hour. My water broke on its own at about 3 pm. At 8:30 pm I started pushing. Baby came at 11:30 pm. We had to use vaccum on baby and we both spiked high fevers due to pushing for so long.
This time I have a new doctor and the plan is to be admitted at 10 pm on the 5th, start cervidil. Get pitocin started at 6 am and she'll break my water between 8-8:30. Hoping for a baby before noon!
At 41 wks they started an induction. I went in at 5 pm and was admitted and had the cervadil inserted. At 7 am the started the pitocin. There were cx on the monitor but didn't feel anything. At 6 pm I was at 1ish cm so they stopped the pit. The next morning the put the pit back on. Around noon I was at 5 cm so they broke my water. At 6 pm I had no more progress so we headed to a c/s.
I was induced at 40w 2d with a fairly favorable cervix (4 cm dilated and 80% effaced). I had been having contractions 7-9 mins apart for a couple hours before the Pit was started at 7:30 AM, contractions were 5 mins apart by 8 AM. They broke my water at 10:30, got my epi at 11:30. Fully dilated by 1:30 PM, started pushing at 2 PM and he was born at 3:29.
Hope all goes well for you next week!

I was induced with my third pregnancy and it went really well. I got to the hospital at 6:00am and I was already 5cm dilated. I think they started the pitocin right around 7:00am and my son was born at 9:45am. Things went pretty quickly and easily.
My first labor was semi-induced. My water broke and then 12 hours later I still wasn't having any contractions so I was given pitocin. That was a lot slower process as I was only a fingertip dilated when my water broke. It took another 13 hours for me to have the baby after they gave me the pitocin. But, I had both babies vaginally and consider the inductions a success.

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck. Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.
This Cluttered Life
1st induction took greater than 24 hours. Had to keep turning off pitocin due to HR not picking up on monitor ended up being a problem with the probe but considering they were inducing me for a possible heart defect they wanted to be safe than sorry. Contractions were never too bad as i got an epidural prior to breaking water (~16 hours in) Major pain was from pushing/tearing our first LO had a huge head and needed forceps to deliver.Pushed for almost an hour. baby went to NICU due to concerns for heart defect but only stayed long enough for an ECHO.
2nd induction started at 8am delivered at 459pm. No problems with HR and baby's monitor strips looked great. Ended up with more pain this time-mostly cause i tried to put off epidural (last time i completely stalled after my epidural) leading to ~30-60 minutes of contractions every 2 minutes at 8/10
but epidural was perfect after placed went ~1- more hours then pushed for 15 minutes and done.
both times just had pitocin. had to stay in hospital the whole time due to needing to be on a monitor.
She probably posted from her phone and it doesn't let you use hyphens. She meant 1 to 2.

I totally even knew that it did this but I didn't sleep last night so I didn't think about it, I figured everyone would kind of figure it out
