While we won't likely travel for several months after the baby is born, my parents and my H's parents are out of state... so it's likely we'll be traveling before the baby is very old. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but thought some of you may already know the answer to this - where does baby sleep when traveling? I don't think my parents or IL's will get a crib, as we won't be there enough. We don't plan to co-sleep. Will a pack 'n play type thing work?
Re: Where does infant sleep when traveling?
When we go somewhere that doesn't have a crib (for instance, to the beach this past summer), DS sleeps in the pack n play.
We would just lug around the pack n play. It's very easy to set up and my DS slept well in it when he was little. He still sleeps in a pack n play at my parents house!
I would just make sure the baby has a chance to sleep in the pack n play before you leave so its not completely new!
A lot of them come with a bassinet insert that you use up to 15 pounds that makes it easier to use when they are tiny!
It depends on where we go. Last year when we drove to FL we took the pack and play with us and she slept there. But when we went overasea she just slept with us in the bed. There was also a hotel where we stayed at that had cribs available so she slept in a crib during our stay there.
Yes, the pack and play are great for infants as well. DD slept in hers during the first month. You can position her pack and play matress in a lower or higher position. I used the higher position when she was and infant and that worked great.

Uh why? I know a lot of people that never used a crib and only a PnP.
we used the Rock n play for the first 4 or 5 months too...and it fits into a carseat travel bag...so they let us check it for free when we flew to visit the ILs...it was perfect.
