Mobile users: Can someone back me up?? STM's
Last night I won tickets on the radio for a Rascal Flatts concert (<3) in February. The concert is 6 weeks before my due date. It's inside an arena. I went to the same concert last year (haha won tickets from the same radio station!) it was seats on the second level, very tame concert, stood for a few songs, sat for a few. I'm super excited to go.
When I told DH last night his first reaction was "You are not going!" He thinks it will be too loud for the baby, people will be bumping into me, and walking up the steps is too much for me. Seriously??? I walk farther at work every day. I walk more steps at home every day from the second floor where the bedrooms are to the basement to do laundry!! I feel that he is overreacting. To make him feel better about it, we will be talking to the Dr at the next appt... and we'll bring it up in Feb. again to make sure there are no concerns.. I told him he has first dibs on my second ticket, but I know he doesn't like country music, so then I will be taking my mom (a.k.a. my best friend).
Has any one else been to a concert near the end of your pregnancy? What did your Dr say about it if you asked?

I saw The Blue Man Group when I was pregnant with my 2nd child. I don't remember how far along I was but I was big enough that you knew I was pregnant. It was alot of walking and alot of people but my husband stayed close and even one of BIL's kind of stood over me so I'd be fine. Yeah it got crowded going in, but once we were at our seats it was fine. I also went to Disney when I was 6 months (also 2nd child), no rollercoasters though!! Just alot of walking and some tour like rides. Now that I think about it, I was also on a cruise with that pregnancy (3 months)... I miss those fun times lol
I've read that extended loud noises (like in a working environment for 8 hrs a day) can affect baby's mood and hearing. However, a couple of hours once is not going to do any more damage than it does to you. If you were a frequent (and I mean like two every week) concert-goer, you may have to scale it back. But once or twice toward the end of your pregnancy is NBD IMO.
FWIW, I went to John Mayer pregnant with #1 and Red Hot Chili Peppers with this one. #1 has no hearing issues - just "listening" issues
haha!

BFP #1 4/10/12, lost at 8 weeks.
BFP #2 EDD 4/18/13. Its a Boy!
I can back you up. This is ridiculous. You can ask your doctor to tell your husband it's fine and he/she will. Your husband is being silly.
I went to PBR (Pro bull riding) event when I was 38 weeks pregnant with DD.
A friend had gotten front row seats to the event (not normally something I would do and I fully did not expect to enjoy it) but as it turns out it was really fun. It was loud and no joke bulls were inches away slamming against the wall infront of us, even slinging dirt on us.
I also went to a concert in my last trimester and an NFL football game at 39 weeks. You'll be fine! If you feel good go for it! enjoy the freedom and fun while you can!
// I love you too. //
I debated myself yesterday because Blake Shelton will be in my area exactly 1 month before my due date. I ended up passing on buying tickets and it bummed me out but the concert is about a 1.5 hours drive away and it's a festival fair type show so I'd have to walk a fair amount before getting to the show. '
Had it been closer and in an nice arena (DH could drop me off at the front door), I would have bought them in a heartbeat.
This. It's just fine to go to a concert. My mom when to a Pink Floyd concert when she was 8 months pregnant with my sister and my sis is just fine.
I don't understand how the type of music would change the noise level and whatnot; if you have seats, people are generally sitting in them despite the genre.
Either way, I went to a Breaking Ben concert when I was 8 1/2 months preg. with DS and he is perfectly fine, and I had a blast at the show. As someone else stated, just because you're pregnant doesn't mean you stop living
