Hey, ladies. My mother is hosting my baby shower but we are both new to this. Shower games aren't our style but I would like to have some sort of theme. Any theme ideas?? Thanks in advance!
ETA: Also, what were some showers that you went that were awful? What made them so bad? Thanks again!
Re: Theme ideas for a newbie
1. having the shower at a restaurant and having to pay for my own meal
2. games involving candy bars made to look like poo in a diaper
other things I have seen on here but not experienced.
1. not opening gifts
2.asking for a book instead of a card. I'm sorry but a good book is much more than a card and I wouldn't feel right writing in a book.
3. having the prizes for games be baby related so that people feel obligated to give them back to the MTB
In my circle, we usually have a theme in the same theme as the nursery
I've gone to a boatload of showers and I'd say the worse ones were I knew NO ONE except the MTB and there were no games and guests just stayed in their own little groups - boring for me. I left early.
Another no-no is not enough seating (only happened once) and not enough food (same shower). There was only a couple of showers where the MTB was late...got there after the guests arrived - rude.
I've gone to two co-ed showers (they were OK...but most of the guys hated it and didn't participate in anything. I also went to two showers that were not co-ed but the DTB was there. You could tell they were absolutely uncomfortable and would have rather been anywhere else but at the shower.
Make sure you open gifts. I've never been to a shower where they did not open them but I have seen people on here say they planned not to. Guests want to see the MTB open their gift.
Do you know if its a boy or a girl? Or will you not find out? I like themes lately because I keep finding such cute things. You can pick a theme (like bumblebee's or Dr. Seuss or rubber ducks, or whatever) and decorate from there, or you can just pick a color scheme.
