Re: How often does LO get treats?

  • a few times a week I guess. I would never give him his own cookie or a bowl of ice cream but he begs so I share a little bit with him

  • To be completely honest, I would have to say that Mason gets a treat most days of the week. This could be one small cookie, a piece of grandpa's muffin, or a few spoonfuls of daddy's ice cream. He is very happy snacking on apples and pears and string cheese, but if he sees anyone else eating, he needs to share whatever it is or he has a fit. Obviously, this could be motivation for us to model better eating habits.

  • She definitely gets treats a few times a week. Sometimes it's a cookie, but sometimes it's just one marshmallow. ;)

  • DH is big into treats and gives her something most nights after dinner, even if she ate NOTHING for dinner.  I tell DH that he can't be doing this much longer, b/c she's going to learn that if she skips her dinner, she gets treats!

Examples of these treats are graham crackers, fig newtons, yogurt-covered raisins.

We wait until she's gone to bed to have our ice cream.  :-)

  • It's usually a few times a week but I bought him his own kinder advent calendar for this month so it's a piece of chocolate a day right now. I didn't want to leave him out and not give him one. He's a great eater throughout the day so a piece of chocolate wouldn't matter- besides, it's Christmas ;)

  • A couple times a week. H loves sugar treats and I love salty stuff so she gets a bit and loves to share.

Whatever, like a couple pp. She's a solid eater otherwise, so I don't see the big deal.

I also want her to learn that moderation is a good thing and nothing is off limits.

She does get "healthier" treats like goldfish crackers and real fruit snacks every day. Whatever. I pick my bottles and if those damn goldfish crackers are what let's me get the laundry done whatever. She also loves cereal so I mix it with raisins or fruit. She loves that just as much.

  • DH and I don't keep sweets in the house.. That being said, DS probably eats them occasionally, like for holidays, birthdays, or grandmas house :p
