How much do you spend

Mobile: How much do you spend

on a haircut?  I hate the options around me.  I either go to a barbershop (which does do women's, they're just the minority), or a chain, and spend maybe $20, but I don't like anyone I've seen and don't think they "get" my hair (which is a PITA).  Or, I'm looking at a full-blown spa where it's $50+, and I don't know what the result would be, and be annoyed if I don't like it.  I don't want to waste that much money.

Just wondering what the norm is - only cut (or cut and style), not coloring or anything like that.

Re: How much do you spend

  • I hit up the Cuttery and do the full blow out. I have gotten some really bland cuts there but I have gotten some awesome ones too and when i get an awesome cut, i get the stylists name and request her whenever I go in. Unfortunately they seem to have a quick employee turn around.

  • Too much...usually $50+.  I have had too many bad experiences and I have short hair which I think is harder to get right, so I just shell it out.  I also do highlights about every 6 months which is another $75-$100.
  • It is $50 for a haircut and style around here at a salon. I usually get color so I'll spend around $125 for everything.
  • I used to go for cheaper cuts but with my hair short now I suck it up and go to the fancy salon. Cut and style there is 55 I think. I hate spending that much but I love my haircut now and didn't for a long time.

  • $40 plus a $5 tip.

My lady cuts out of her home.  I'm thinking of changing though.  If I do, I'm prepared to spend $50+ for a good cut.

  • Haircut? What is this haircut of which you speak? I haven't gotten mine cut since I went into basic in 2010! Eek! Way overdue.

For fancy cuts, I spend around $40 plus tip. For regular reshaping the layers and getting split ends off, around $25. But I don't do anything special.

  • I'm no help either....mine is usually around $150-180. I get highlights, trim and blow dry....but since my hair is super long, I get the long hair charge on top of each item...so I only go like 3 times a year

  • I spend about $40/$45. I have super thick hair and it's long so I get charged more than usual. That includes the style though, not sure how much it would be to just get a cut.

Same for me. It gets expensive when you add product and a tip!
Is there a university around you? I know we get coupon books for CU which has a salon type spa in the student center! Usually it is less expensive and the beauticians are well trained.

  • Whoa I'm the cheapest here hahahaha one of my best friends do my hair since I was in highschool. She is awesome! and I only pay 8 to trim my hair since I have it long... very long now. I do the rest. I've learned how to blow it out or use the hair iron. So yeah, actually I don't have expences in that department :P
