Painful tearing sensation???

I went to the gym this evening for the first time in quite a while.  I was taking it easy on an elliptical and was about 20 minutes in when I had a sudden tearing sensation which felt like it was inside my uterus.  It was just slightly right of midline and went from the top of my pubic bone almost to the top of my uterus.  It was intense (made me stop the elliptical) for about 10 minutes and then slowly subsided.  Now, about 2 hours later, it feels like a bruise inside my uterus in that same line that originally had the ripping sensation.   I am not bleeding.  It feels totally different from my usual RLP.  Any thoughts?

Re: Painful tearing sensation???

  • I was going to suggest RLP, but I would call your OB just to be safe. They should have an after hours line or an on call doc you can talk to. Keep us posted. I hope it's nothing!

  • Ugh.  I know this is stupid, but I want an answer from you lovely ladies because they'll probably recommend I go to the ER and my options for pelvic exams there will be my husband or one of his colleagues!  I also haven't asked DH for the same reason.  I know, modesty over health.  I'm just being stupid.

Unfortunately, this would probably give me pause, too.

I will say i have had similar pains when I stretch. One time it happened was while I was sleeping and I stretched while barely lucid and felt a big rip. I also woke up sore and bruised feeling. I didn't call my OB or anything and nothing ever came of it. And I have heard the baby on the doppler since, many times. I guess I just assumed it was RLP.

  • If you really don't feel comfortable going into the ER, I would take it easy tonight, drink lots of water and call your Ob in the morning.
If you haven't had any other issues through the night, they'll probably just reassure you. But, if the pain stays, it'd be worth the call anyways.
Hope you get to feeling better.

You never know - your doctor might reassure you, or ask some follow up questions. But when it comes to the health of your baby, I think you need to put your baby before your modesty.

  • Just checking in. Hoping that if you didn't go to the ER last night, that you'll call this morning.

Keep us updated. Hope you feel awesome and get some reassurance today.

  • I didn't go to the ER last nigt, but I did have a conversation about it with DH. We heard LO on the doppler and he/she was very active last night.  I'm going to take it easy today and I have an ultrasound and appointment tomorrow.  The pain is nearly gone and I'm feeling much better about it today.  Thanks for all your support!
