Re: **The Walking Dead Discussion**

  • -Overall thoughts? Honestly, it was a little anti climatic for me.  I was expecting more excitement.  However--I was ok with it. I was surprised to see a new set of characters at the prison. Also, Michonne finally got interesting.  I think this season has been way better than last season

-What did you think about the new characters added? What is their fate? Like I said above I think it's interesting they brought in new characters.  There is four of them.  I predict that at least half of them die if not all of them.  I'm going to guess the father/son combo will be first to go.  I think the other two will stick around a little longer.  Also, Rick is going to be proud as hell of Carl for locking them in like that but treating them fairly.

-Were you glad to see Michonne go after the governor? What did you think about that whole scene--their fight, his daughter, the heads? YES. She finally got interesting! I thought it was cool to see her get all soft over the daughter only to realize she's a walker.  I think it's kind of a juxstaposition (sp?) of humanity.  I really wanted her to kill the governor.  REALLY bad. He is SCUM. I still don't think the heads have been explained and they may not need to be--we might just have to assume he kept them because he's a sick f*ck.

-Were you surprised by Andrea's reaction? yes and no.  I'm not surprised she stood up for her man *rolls eyes* but I'm surprised she wasnt freaked out by his collection and walker daughter.  But I think Andrea is a weak woman who will look over any crazy stuff for a guy that will give her attention. The two of them just suck.

-Glen has seemed to take a turn, do you think that he is hardened now? More like Rick? What about Maggie? I do.  I think Maggie said it perfectly...you forget how cruel humans can be to one another (or something like that).  I think the whole scene of breaking open that walkers arm and using the bone as a weapon was total and complete badassness.  Glen is hardened yes.  I think he'll be more like Rick towards strangers.

-Why do you think Rick had a hallucination about Shane then? Why that moment? Rick on some levels feels guilty about killing Shane.  I think it was sort of a moment of panic.  I'm not sure, curious to see what you ladies think.

-How do you think the Merle/Daryl situation is going to go down? First of all, my DH said to me during the Glen/Maggie stuff why doesn't Merle just kill him? I dont think Merle wanted to.  I dont think he wants to kill the people he knows/knew.  I think Daryl and Merle are going to team up....maybe to take down the Governor? That'd be cool

-Anything from the previews strike you as particularly interesting? (i.e. the Governor "allows" Andrea to go visit the prision, Hershel's blond daughter flirting with Rick) Carl gon' be mad jelly about that girl flirting with is Dad! He's trying to tap that! I think the rest of the season is going to be awesome--I think Woodbury is going to fall by the end of the season and I'm curious to see how the governor gets taken down!

-One last thing: What are your top 3 most memorable/shocking TWD moments (can be from any season!)?  Season 2--walkers sitting in a church (totally weirded me out), Shane's death, and probably season 1 when Rick is riding into Atlanta on an empty highway --the camera pans out and you see a walker filled city.  There are others but those stick out to me

  • -Overall thoughts? It was a bit too dramatic for me. I feel like this episode was not at all about walkers, and all about weird drama. The show seems to be getting away from survival mode and turning into too much weird drama.

-What did you think about the new characters added? What is their fate? Not too sure yet. I think they'll stick around for a little while.

-Were you glad to see Michonne go after the governor? What did you think about that whole scene--their fight, his daughter, the heads? I was realllllly grossed out about the heads. I can't believe he was even able to function after getting that huge shard of glass to his eye!

-Were you surprised by Andrea's reaction? A little. But then again, not really. You would think she'd have more questions after discovering his daughter and the heads! But she's really annoying me lately so it doesn't really surprise me.

-Glen has seemed to take a turn, do you think that he is hardened now? More like Rick? What about Maggie? I wonder if he'll take over as leader later on. I agree he seems to be hardening.

-Why do you think Rick had a hallucination about Shane then? Why that moment? I think because he realized how much human on human killing was happening and it reminded him of Shane.

-How do you think the Merle/Daryl situation is going to go down? I think they'll survive. They'll help each other escape somehow.

-Anything from the previews strike you as particularly interesting? (i.e. the Governor "allows" Andrea to go visit the prision, Hershel's blond daughter flirting with Rick) Carl telling Rick that he shouldn't lead anymore. I can't imagine WD without him being in charge.

-One last thing: What are your top 3 most memorable/shocking TWD moments (can be from any season!)? Carl getting shot in season 2. Rick awakening from his coma (the scene he woke up to). And Shane's death.

  • This episode seriously grossed me out. I HATED every scene with his daughter.

I'm not sure about the new people. I was annoyed that Carl offered to shoot the woman but they seemed to think that bashing her brains in with a hammer would be a kinder way for her to go.

Michonne annoys me. I just don't see what she has going for her as a character. She barely speaks, she doesn't form strong bonds, and she let them hanging once they got inside. She showed them where to go but used them as a distraction to get her a shot at the Governor. She holds grudges and doesn't put the good of the group over her own agenda, which puts her on par with Merle for me.

Andrea is also annoying. She transforms into whatever person best suits the group she's with, which I suppose is a good survival strategy but I'm not a fan. Her reaction didn't surprise me at all because at this point she's not going to take a stand against anyone who is powerful.

The scene with Glen tearing apart the corpse was awful. I don't know if he'll become the leader. I think Daryl is best suite to (or, sadly, Carl).

No idea how Merle/Daryl will get out of is but Daryl better stick around.

  • -Overall thoughts?

I thought it was good. Definitely not the cliffhanger I was expecting, but it had some great parts to it.

-What did you think about the new characters added? What is their fate?

I'm glad they're adding some new people into the mix. From my understanding (my friend reads the comics), the black main character - Tyrese, becomes a big part of the group.

-Were you glad to see Michonne go after the governor? What did you think about that whole scene--their fight, his daughter, the heads?

I thought it was awesome! I knew she would kill his daughter, but I was surprised by the glass in the eye.

-Were you surprised by Andrea's reaction?

No, she's still a stupid bia. I'm just hoping she realizes that there is more going on than what she thinks and comes to her senses.

-Glen has seemed to take a turn, do you think that he is hardened now? More like Rick? What about Maggie?

After his killing the zombie last week, he definitely earned some bada$$ points in my book. I think it will make him a stronger character. I think Maggie will follow his lead and be a stronger character as well.

-Why do you think Rick had a hallucination about Shane then? Why that moment?

I'm not sure. I was confused about that.

-How do you think the Merle/Daryl situation is going to go down?

I'm thinking they'll be forced to fight. I hope Daryl takes out Merle.

-Anything from the previews strike you as particularly interesting? (i.e. the Governor "allows" Andrea to go visit the prison, Hershel's blond daughter flirting with Rick)

I'm thinking there will be an all out power struggle/war between Woodbury and the prison. I must have missed the flirting preview..

-One last thing: What are your top 3 most memorable/shocking TWD moments (can be from any season!)?

    1. Michonne taking out the Govenors daughter and the glass in the eye.

    2. The season 2 finally with everything that went down on the farm.

    3. When Rick trots into Atlanta all by himself on horseback.

  • -Overall thoughts? I liked it. I was on the edge of my seat most of the episode. Can't wait for Feb!

-What did you think about the new characters added? What is their fate?

I like when they add new characters, but it scares me that some of the "main" characters will die & be replaced by them :( Maybe the teen boy and Hershel's daughter will have a love connection? Maybe Carl/Rick will commiserate with the boy and his father since their wife/mom just died and Lori just died?

-Were you glad to see Michonne go after the governor? What did you think about that whole scene--their fight, his daughter, the heads?

Yes, I'm just mad Andrea interrupted and she didn't get to kill him. Him sticking her head in the tank with the heads was icky- and I was surprised that the heads were still alive and one was nipping at her! It makes sense since there was no brain shot... but why weren't they "nipping" the whole time they were in the tanks?

-Were you surprised by Andrea's reaction?

Unfortunately no- but why didn't she talk to Michonne more before she left? If it was my friend who kept me alive all winter, I would've wanted/waited to hear her explanation.

-Glen has seemed to take a turn, do you think that he is hardened now? More like Rick? What about Maggie?

Yes, Glen seems to have hardened and I am liking what I'm seeing. Maggie too.

-Why do you think Rick had a hallucination about Shane then? Why that moment?

I don't know. I am wondering if Rick's craziness is going to continue. Maybe having to kill other people reminded him of that night with Shane- and the vague resemblance of the guy to Shane.

-How do you think the Merle/Daryl situation is going to go down?

What I was hoping was that Andrea was going to come to her senses and help Merle/Daryl out and they'd kill the governor and escape the town together... but since you said the Governor "lets" Andrea visit the prison next time (my DVR cuts off most of the preview), I guess not... maybe Merle will surprise us and sacrifice himself for his brother and fight everyone while Daryl escapes. Merle needs to die because the group will never accept him and I don't want them to lose Daryl.

-Anything from the previews strike you as particularly interesting? (i.e. the Governor "allows" Andrea to go visit the prision, Hershel's blond daughter flirting with Rick)

Didn't get to see it. Hershel's 17-yr-old flirts with Rick? Eww. I thought she and Carl were flirting.

-One last thing: What are your top 3 most memorable/shocking TWD moments (can be from any season!)?

    1. Carl being shot

    2. Sophia coming out of the barn as a walker

    3. Shane trying to kill Rick, dying, becoming a walker, and being shot by Carl

  • -Overall thoughts?

I was putting Hayley to bed as it was playing - so I thought I missed something. When it ended I was like - is that it?! Boring episode to end before winter break IMO. Of course they were going to do a lot of shooting. Kill somebody. I wish the governor would have died.

-What did you think about the new characters added? What is their fate?

I'm so tired of new characters being added. I could care less about them and I hope a zombie eats all of them. Come on writers. Let's just focus on the dozen we already have plus the hundreds we just added in the town mmkay? thanks.

-Were you glad to see Michonne go after the governor? What did you think about that whole scene--their fight, his daughter, the heads?

I am glad she finally had her chance to go after the governor. O and as for the daughter thing: I have a feeling we will find out Michonne had a daughter or something. She was so loving/kind before she knew she was a zombie, she risked her life to bring the formula...hmm...

I kinda think he collects the heads from people he did scientific studies on... the whole scene where they were snapping their jaws at Michonne made me laugh - it was so fake looking! Not like zombies exist or anything...

Side note: What was the daughter staring at in the bowl when she was out listening to the music with him? I asked DH if it was ice cream and he said no but didn't offer any other suggestions.

-Were you surprised by Andrea's reaction?

Eh - I knew she'd be a little surprised by the heads/zombie daughter, but I was hoping she would storm out in anger that he lied/omitted or something.

-Glen has seemed to take a turn, do you think that he is hardened now? More like Rick? What about Maggie?

I think he is a little hardened but isn't like Rick yet. Maggie too.

-Why do you think Rick had a hallucination about Shane then? Why that moment?

I have no idea! I'm just chalking it up to that he is still crazy since only days before he was on the phone with dead people too. Maybe he sees others who turn against humanity are like him?

-How do you think the Merle/Daryl situation is going to go down?

DH thinks they are going to team up against the governor. Merle was very insistent on them not hurting Daryl. And Merle didn't kill Glen and Maggie (probably because he wants the human race to survive!) so he may team back up with them? It's a long shot, but I'm going with it.

-Anything from the previews strike you as particularly interesting? (i.e. the Governor "allows" Andrea to go visit the prision, Hershel's blond daughter flirting with Rick)

DH doesn't watch previews, so in turn, neither do I (he likes to be surprised. It kills me but I've gotten used to it) - so all these things surprise me write now! I think Hershel's blondie is probably going to be the town hoe since the convict wants to get with her. She will repopulate the world! lol

-One last thing: What are your top 3 most memorable/shocking TWD moments (can be from any season!)?

    1. The very first episode when that mother came back to her house and was staring all zombie like into the peephole. DH and I laughed but it makes me think - they said she comes back often and tries to open the door. Does she know she lived there? So maybe she does still remember and have feelings...

    2. When the little girl walked out of the barn as a zombie who they'd been looking for that whole time (I forget names easy)

    3. When Rick is talking to carl at the farm (last episode of the season?) and they pan up to see thousands of walkers and DH and I were both like "O Shnit!"

  • Well the mid season finale aired yesterday! Now we have to wait another two months for more!! Boo!

    -Overall thoughts?

I found the show to be pretty good, much better than last weeks.  There were some corny parts though where I was thinking oh geez.... right.

-What did you think about the new characters added? What is their fate?

They were ok, I was thinking at first these were the people that Rick was talking to on the phone then I forgot he imagines that whole thing... or did he? Their fate... I think most of them will die off

-Were you glad to see Michonne go after the governor? What did you think about that whole scene--their fight, his daughter, the heads?

I am kinda getting annoyed by Michonne actually... She was the corny part where she sat in his chair waiting.  I was glad she went after the Gov. though... he had it coming, he is one creepy dude.  The daughter was a little messed up.... who releases the kid without taking the netting off her head?  She also seemed to be at one point coming around. I thought she was going to revert back to human becuase she was staring at the ice-cream or whatever that was in the bowl. I am not sure what that was all about.  The heads... well I am still confused about those.

-Were you surprised by Andrea's reaction?

No, I wasn't surprised at all...I was surprised she was so laid back about the heads.. she seems so naive!

-Glen has seemed to take a turn, do you think that he is hardened now? More like Rick? What about Maggie?

I was shocked he broke the walkers arms off to use the bones as a weapon, I like Maggie...I have this thought she might die soon though but her and Glen are looking to be more tough. I like that they are though!!

-Why do you think Rick had a hallucination about Shane then? Why that moment?

That was crazy... I thought Shane was really alive when they showed that. I think that is just apart of Rick losing his mind and had that flashback.  The moment, well I think the producers wanted the audience to think that Shane was alive like I did.

-How do you think the Merle/Daryl situation is going to go down?

I think Andrea is going to step in and do something and possibly Rick and the gang will show up. I hope Andrea does though, I like her more when she is a bad ass then all lovee and stupid.

-Anything from the previews strike you as particularly interesting? (i.e. the Governor "allows" Andrea to go visit the prision, Hershel's blond daughter flirting with Rick)

I was shocked with the previews.. looks like some good twists but I can't make much out of it...

-One last thing: What are your top 3 most memorable/shocking TWD moments (can be from any season!)?

Shane getting killed by Rick. Sophie being a zombie ( I really thought they would find her unharmed) and Lori dying
