  • Hi girls!

My challenge lately has been naps or more so the lack of a nap!  B is sleeping through the night, usually 10-7, but if I get two 30 min power naps a day I'm lucky.  Then when DH gets home from work around 5 or 6 DS is so overtired that all he does is fuss and cry until he finally gives in and crashes around 8 o'clock.  I feel bad that DH doesn't get to see a happy baby much at all during the week.

Milestones- He's consistently rolling from belly to back and rolls from his back to his side constantly in his crib, even swaddled.  The swaddle may be going soon because he's so strong and tall that he keeps busting out of it.  I also don't want him rolling to his belly while swaddled.

The funniest thing he's doing lately is talking constantly.  He talks to his toys, his reflection, DH & I and sometimes I hear him in his crib just talking and giggling to himself.  It's the cutest thing and he is such a social and happy little boy!

I traveled to Hong Kong for 8 days for work once.  The flight there was a total of 23hrs and I would never fly that much again but the trip was a once in a lifetime amazing experience.

  • Any challenges this week? Just trying to get in a groove as much as possible. It's been a challenge for me to ask for help when I need it.

Milestones? Little man is trying so hard to be big and hold his head up to see everything.

Funny stories? We were getting his newborn pics taken yesterday and she was trying to get some if him on his belly and he kept holding his head up and just looking at her like, "Look what I can do now!"

GTKY: Have you ever traveled abroad? Yep, LOVE travelling. I've been to England, Germany, Ireland, Scotland, and Italy.

    ~*~*Everyone Welcome*~*~
  • Hi ladies!

DS has been our easier child lately (DD is having a toddler sleep regression, ugh), but it looks like we are now in the 4-month wakeful stage. He had been sleeping from 8ish to 4ish, but now he's up at 11 and 3 and 5. Still not terrible, but with the toddler wailing at 12 and 4, they conspire to keep mommy and daddy tired.

DS is not going to be an early roller, and he HATES tummy time. He's getting chatty, and got up at 9 pm the other day apparently just to have a little conversation before going back to sleep. He was making goofy faces at DH and hooting like an owl. He's also grasping toys and loves hitting the dangling snail on his bouncer bar. When family was over for Thanksgiving, we mentioned how much he loves his snail, and SIL suggested, "Maybe he HATES the snail! He'll tell us in a few years that he can't stand it and was trying to get rid of it!" Given how hard he hits it, she might be on to something! He treats it almost like a mini punching bag.

Oh, and I had forgotten how challenging the distractible-baby stage is for breastfeeding. Suck, smile at mom, suck, talk to mom, suck, look at big sister, suck, look out the window....we pretty much spend our days snacking now.

GTKY: DH and I went to Montreal for our babymoon (in February...brr!) and I traveled to London right after college for a week. I was in a professional modern dance company at the time and we had a gig on the South Bank. I'd love to do more traveling; Machu Picchu is on my bucket list.

  • Challenges: We are still working on napping in her crib during the day so we can transition her to crib at night. She really doesn't like it. I do get at least one nap in her crib that lasts at least 30 mins. I'm hoping for more this week. She loves sleeping on her side. If it were more safe I would let her do it more...but she isn't rolling over on her own yet so it scares me to let her sleep that way too long. We are still swaddling and she sleeps good at night. But she is breaking out of it more lately so I think we might have to give it up. Or just swaddle her and leave her arms out.

Funny stories: We are working on taking Christmas pictures. I've gotten some really good ones. In one she has her fists up like she is saying lets fight mom! Its too funny.

GTKY: I haven't traveled abroad unless Canada counts. I still have so much of the US I would like to see first.

  • Challenges:  Well, we had 2 really crappy nights of sleep where DD woke 9 times (in about 11 hrs of sleep!) for her pacifier...I think it was the start of teething, but then she gave us 2 fabulous nights of sleep where she only woke 1-2 times, including her MOTN feeding.  But then last night she woke about 5 times again...well, it was nice while it lasted.

Milestones: She can now buzz her lips, making a very short motorboat noise.  Very cute!

GTKY: I studied abroad in college and spent 8 weeks in France.  (majored in French) and in the middle of that I took a week in Norway to visit DH's distant relatives during the class break.  Then, courtesy of my military service, I deployed and spent a couple days in Spain (stuck on base though) en route to Qatar.  While there, I took some quick trips to Kuwait & Iraq.  Can't wait to go back to France on a family vacation!

  • Challenges: We're still dealing with this icky yeast rash. I took DD to the doctor on Thursday to get it looked at and they have her a script for nystatin. That only made it worse, though. So, I'm taking her back in later today to get reevaluated. I just want this stuff gone!

Milestones: DD turned 5 months on Thursday! She's growing so fast, I can't get over it. She also, all of a sudden, likes tummy time! Woo hoo!! This has been our major struggle from the beginning. It only took 5 months, but we finally got there.

GTKY: I've never traveled abroad (I've never been outside the US!), but I would really love to some day.

  • This is my first Infant check in:
Little man is 2 weeks old. He unfortunately caught his mommy and daddy's cold and is all stuffy. He loves to just cuddle up on our chests. It breaks my heart that he has to go through this. I wish I could take it away.

    GTKY:
I've been to Jamaica which was a blast. Now that we have J I'm not sure how soon we will be traveling but I love hoping on a plane. Even if we are staying in the US.

  • Nothing crazy this past week. G's doing well! She isn't a big fan of tummy time either. I try to start when she's in a good mood, but usually she gets mad pretty quickly. It's funny, because it's a different fuss. She yells at us, DH says she's cussing us out, because she gets downright mad.

I went back to work today :[ It wasn't too bad. I work very close to home, and DH is with G. I stress about running out if BM. I have around 100oz frozen, and we're starting with that. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, but I do anyway.

G seems to sing with me sometimes...I love it! She just needs to stop growing so fast!

ETA. The furthest I've traveled is to Mexico. For a trip with my church youth group in 7th grade. I'd love to go somewhere fantastic one day!

  • I don't usually do these checkins, but I actually have time tonight since both the baby and DH are taking naps!

S's sleeping has been horrible this week...up multiple times every night. Darn 4 month sleep regression :(

Nothing new for the other two

GTKY: We actually lived in Germany for three years while DH was in the Air Force....we made it to Spain, France, Ireland, England, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy. We loved it and would go back in a heartbeat if we could!

  • Any challenges this week?  DD's sleep regression continues and is getting worse, last night it took four hours to get her down to sleep for the night, every time she would fall asleep and I'd put her in the crib she would wake up crying, she finally fell asleep at 1a.m.  Plus she has been really cranky, I think she is going through a wonder week, but I really just want my sweet happy baby back!

Milestones?  We went to a breakfast with Santa on Sunday morning, it was really cute and dd did great sitting on Santa's lap for pictures.  She also recently has been clasping her hands together, she was using her hands before and sometimes they would touch but it now seems much more deliberate.

    Funny stories? Not this week.

GTKY: Have you ever traveled abroad? I've been to Portugal twice, DH's family is from Portugal, he was born here, but his parents were born there and moved here when they were teenagers.   We'd love to go back and take dd, but we'll see.  I also would love to visit Italy!

  • Any challenges this week? Milestones? Funny stories?  The four month wakefull is killing me.  My little boy that used to sleep from 9-4 am now wakes every 2 hours and it is so frustrating.  I have been so sleep deprived I'm delirious.

Funny story- Friday night I had already been up three times, I woke up in the morning vaguely remembering my husband yelling at me.  Apparently around 3 am he was up with the baby and kept trying to ask me when was the last time I fed LO and my reply was repeatedly "Monday!"

GTKY: Have you ever traveled abroad?   Just the Caribbean.  We already applied for LO's passport for our vacation to Turks and Caicos in June!  His passport will be good for five years, and I think it will be hilarious for him to travel as a toddler with his little infant photo.

We've been doing Lotrimin for the better part of a month and every time it's almost gone, it flares back up again. The NP we saw on Thursday agreed it's yeast, but the doctor we saw yesterday said it's just a really bad rash. So DD is out of our CDs and in spossies with desitin. I'm not happy about it, but I'll play along and see what happens.

With tummy time, we just kept trying it, but I didn't push it. Every couple days we'd give it a try again and were usually met with screaming. Then last week she was all of a sudden fine! The little stinker lifted her head up, looked around, and then rolled over like it was nothing!
